Quick update

Today was the first commute with a stop for coffee. I haven't had time to solve the problem with an elegant solution so an old bar towel that lives in every car I've ever owned got stretched across the cup holder and served as an insert to stabilize the cup. This will do for now, but I do hope to find a more elegant solution as time permits.

I figured this out the other day. I put a micro fiber over my cup holder, then put the cup in! Its great because when it spills it absorbs it. Now to find a way to keep atleast half the coffee in the cup

I might try to model something up for this. Are thermal cups all about the same size?

All cupholders are designed to fit McDonald's drink cups FYI. That is the benchmark cup size

Yeah but I was thinking of making something taller than the cup holder to reduce the top heaviness

Do you have a thermal cup? Can you measure it at the base and say... 5 inches off the table? I need diameters. If you don't have calipers, can you use string and calculate diameter from circumference? I need a diameter on the cup holder itself too(my car is at the shop)

I drink Tim Horton's so I dont have a thermal cup. You can wrap a string around it then measure the string to get the diameter. I can probably measure the cupholder at some point

Well step 1 is too buy a thermal cup. Step 2 measure it. Step 3 I design something in the next 2 weeks, step 4 you pay for it to be made or find someone with a 3d printer to make it. 5, use it, discover you're better off without coffee and throw it away
