I put a short shifter and a big ol' autozone tachometer in my 88 mazda 323 when i was 17.
It wasn't a GTX so the car had 80something crank horsepower when it was new and didn't come equipped with a tachometer. |

Didn't have camera phones back then but I had a ugly gold 95 Cavalier when I was 17.
It was a 5 speed manual but had no RPM gauge, just this stupid little light that would turn on when you were supposed to shift lol. Mods were as follows: -Custom 3" CAI -Pacesetter headers with header wrap -Custom test pipe -Magnaflow dual exhaust cat back -14" American racing wheels off my prior car (90 Celica GT) -Light up autozone shift knob -Short shifter aka I went at the stock shifter with a hacksaw -Oh and a full sound system. Polk speakers all around and 2 12" Infinity subs with a 1200 watt Bazooka amp. Yeah I was making store windows rattle lol |

Amateurs.
I had a '99 Ford escort to which I had added: Those dumb windshield washer lights (blue LEDs) The little lights that went onto your valve stems. Baller status. |

HRm..
I had a 91 Cavalier. I bought 5 relays so I could make one latching relay; so this story is at least cool in that I was taking on engineering challenges. I wired this up to the aux out on the alarm system. Holding the aux button would pop the trunk (and it would fly all the way up), and turn on all of the shitty autozone neon, with the "light of god blue" coming out of the trunk. I sold tireflys on ebay, was a good side business in that couple week period before everyone realized they were illegal. Of course we had them all over our cars. I totally forgot... I did full under body neon on my 2003 Hyundai Accent. I re-used the latching relay; it again cool from an engineering perspective but a total money waste and rice out of the car. |

![]() According to my G-Tech..... I was running a mid 15 second quarter mile lol I don't know how many remember those little G-Tech computer things, but they plugged into your cigarette lighter and gave you Hp/tq,1/4 mile times, gforces, and some other info. I have no idea how accurate they were but for the $250 I spent on the damn thing I would hope it had some sort of accuracy to it lol. This was the exact one I had ![]() Oh yeah and it also read RPM and had a shift light |
