I had Lojack installed on my car yesterday at my home and the installer kept going on about how nice the car was. He mentioned that he customizes Subarus and couldn't believe that the BRZ was made by Subaru.

Nice to get such positive feedback from a guy who undoubtedly sees high end cars on a pretty frequent basis.

The dealer tried to sell it to me for $695, then lowered it to $595. Still too rich for my blood.

I actually got a great deal by purchasing it through the WGBH auction here in Massachusetts. I guess Lojack donated it to PBS and I picked it up for $260.

Got to work and was getting out of my car. An older gentleman walked towards me and told me "that is one classy coupe, I think I'll trade in my car for one of these". I said thanks, talked about how much fun I've had with it, then told him I had to go to work. As I was walking away, I see him get into his BMW M6 a couple of cars over... Jaw hits the floor...

Forgot to post last night... Was coming home, turned into one of the small roads to cut over to my house, and passed by two ambulances. In the second one a tech yelled over their loudspeaker "You have an awesome car!" LMAO My wife didn't beileve me till my 4 year old daughter backed up my story.

These cars will be spotted by the younger crowd. Its like motorcycles, only young people notice sportsbikes, Everyone looks at a Harley. I feel this car is going to be too exspensive for young adults/college students so they will gawk, but is to cheap/modern for the older folks. My father drools at mustang shelbys, but never notices a GTR or Porshe. Generational diferences are huge. Thats not for everyone, but i do notice its a pretty solid average... The more modern looking vehicles stand out, only when your looking for them. Unless you drive a yellow smart for two. Then everyone points and laughs, but inside their jelous of your MPG.

Combined EPA on a smart is 36. I'm getting 32 in my FR-S after 2K miles. I think the wrong person is jealous in that scenario!

Garage
Did a short little road trip today and could see a couple of passengers on the highway quickly turning their heads as I passed with a couple of people staring if I was right beside them. Also had a guy at a gas station ask me, "woah, what kind of Subaru is that, and when did it come out?"

Definitely fun so far!

Rule number 1 when you buy a car for fuel economy, stretch the truth. Same thing folks do when they buy a car for 0 to 60 speeds!

According to Fuelly out of 500+ smarts reporting the peak of the curve is between 38 - 40. I'm getting a real 32. Seems a fair trade to me!

I had a guy in what appeared to be a fully modded EVO IX give me a massive thumbs up while next to me at the light yesterday. He proceeded to inch forward so he could take pictures on his phone.

I've literally gotten more positive recognition from EVO owners than WRX/STI owners.

A girl at my work with a '12 Impreza tells me everyday how upset she is that the salesman didn't tell her about the BRZ when she bought her car.
