There are a lot of conflicting opinions on this. As a first time new-car owner, I read them all and got stressed out about what was right.

In the end, I figured if anyone knows the car, it's the engineers at Subaru/Toyota. I followed their recommended break in procedure (in the owners manual I believe). It may be more of a legal thing than a technical one, but they sure as shit wouldn't put something detrimental in there.

The only thing I found in the manual was this:

Quote:
Breaking-in of new brake pads and linings
A safe location and situation should be selected for break-in driving.
I'm in the varying types of driving camp. It's the way I'm going to learn her as a driver anyway.

hahaha true!! Its okay I normally would prefer that you bump old threads then make new ones.... but on here new threads almost always turn to shit so I say make new threads and leave the old ones out of it so they dont go to shit as well hahaha! plus no one else searches so at this point its already too late.

LOL OMG break in sucks
I bought mine use, so I drove hell out of it in the test drive, I think I scared the kid who sold it to me.

All sportscars should come pre-broken in like Porsche

I believe all new cars are for the most part anyways. I heard they rev these engines to like 9krpm for a minute or so and if they dont pop they go in the car.

edit: I got to test drive mine alone.... Bad idea on their part hahaha!
