Catch can / AOS for Turbo
What is everyone using? How different is it to set it up on a turbo 86? 2 that I'm eyeing right now , radium dual or Crawford aos. Any experience with them? Pics and instructions to install on a turbo? Thanks!

I could be mistaken but I believe some stay away from the Crawford unit because it recirculates the gunk back into the oil system. On a plus side, you dont need to change out the canister. Kinda lazy is that is a selling point.
You want a dual setup for sure. Lots to search for on the topic. Mixed feelings. Some say build one yourself and others always want top of the line. |

I am really curious about this too. I have tried to do my own research but there's not much out there. I have asked people but they have only ever told me what to do but not why. I get that it puts everything back in the crank but is this significant if you change your oil? Would it be cheaper to run the AOS into just one generic catch can or buy the dual setup instead? Because the catch cans are way overpriced if you ask me.

Im running a dual catch can setup from Driven Fab. Both are recirculated to the intake. Both have drain lines. After 5k of DD, I pulled 2 ounces of fluid out of the PCV side and the crank vent side was literally bone dry. Not even any residue on the drain plug.
PVC should be a must but Im not convinced a crank vent catch is necessary.

I run a vented setup, does the job nicely. Does smell a bit but I don't care. I know nothing is getting to the pistons and don't have to worry about suction from the turbo closing hoses or inhaling oil from the cans. It happens.

I run a Radium PCV catch can, it works like a charm on my JDL Turbo kit.
Just a heads up when my car was N/A after 15k miles the catch can would fill up like 30% with blow by oil and unspent fuel. After I went turbo the catch can fills up to 30% in only 5k miles, I would highly recommend a Radium PCV one. You can hold off on the Crankcase one, I don't find it as necessary for our cars but it wouldn't hurt to have it. The catch can is by the battery.

I run the dual Radium. With 5000 km's and 2 hard track days it had filled the PCV side I think. Definitely needed if driving hard.

Boosted or NA? I'm boosted and the Crankcase Vent is 95% of what I catch. The PCV side catches stuff consistently but it's not huge amounts.

Yep thats my advice. It's amazing how much oil gets vented in racing conditions. Even on the street it's a decent amount.

We run Crawford AOS on both our AVO turbo BRZ (14psi) and Cosworth supercharged FRS. (6psi) With no issues. You do have to install a check valve once you are boosted though.

You don't have to but it is good insurance. If the PCV is working it doesn't need it.
