This is probably the least snarky and most informative thread that's been posted here for a while. Good info and good going guys.

Hit them in PB Blaster once a day for three days prior to trying to get them out. If they don't come out easy, apply heat with a pencil torch. Then make sure to use anti-seize on the threads on the replacement. Many O2 sensors either come with a little tube of anti-seize or have it on the threads already.

Where are you planning to get a low profile floor jack for $90? The smaller low profile jack at HF is $140, and you can't use the 20% coupon on jacks. The labor to install these things really shouldn't run more than about $150, so he'd be spending another $80 to $100 on equipment he isn't going to use.

I charged the guy who bought my exhaust 60 dollars to install. Took me 30 minutes with a jack and two stands. and he was on his way.

Nah, your time is always valuable, it's just that you get far more than simply a finished product from a job well done by yourself. Knowledge is power, and learning, sense of accomplishment, pride in your own handiwork, etc. should not be undercut.

BUT, as mentioned earlier, safety and being able to come out in one peice and drive away is also key lol

It's not always that simple. As has been said already, if he lives in an apartment where he can't work on his car, then having the tools doesn't help. The alternative is maybe you have a friend who has the space to let you do it but that's not a guarantee.

There's also the issue if this is your only vehicle. I'm personally not one to want to take the risk of possibly disabling my own car. Better to have it at a shop if something goes wrong.

I also learned the hard way that sometimes it's just way easier to pay someone to do it. I tried to remove my muffler and it was so rusted and seized, I couldn't get it off with the tools I had. I ended up stripping a bolt and said fuck it and took it to a shop. Cost me $50 and I wished I had just done that from the start.

If you have the money to buy a full exhaust in one go, then you can probably afford the couple hundred it costs to have someone else install it. There's no shame in that.

It's $89.99 on their site, Item#62160. The same 1.5 ton one I have in my garage. I used the 20% off coupon too when I bought it. I read the "no floor jacks" on the coupon just now.
I used it when I bought mine or they had it on sale cheaper than that $90 because I am positive I aid around $70ish for it. I guess they weren't paying attention if it was the coupon?
I also bought my compressor with the coupon and it says no compressors either.

Umm, echo... echo.... echo....

Also, if you find a way to disable your vehicle beyond drivability when unscrewing some nuts off some bolts, then perhaps there is a greater issue at hand. Anyway, of course it's always going to be easier to have someone else work on your car. That wasn't the point though... we all are pitching in with opinions so he can weigh his options and possibly save a few bucks if that becomes more important

there's a special wrench that you can get at hobo freight for like 7 bucks to get o2 sensors out. then you shouldn't have to worry about the spares. I definitely agree with some of the guys that are suggesting buying the tools and doing it yourself. it's also a good reason to drink a few beers.

Time is money. Knowledge is money.

What one wants to do with their time and money varies from person to person. To say that $200 worth of tools versus $200 of labor install is the same thing takes away from the fact that some people just do not want to work on their own cars.

Nothing is undercut. $200 labor and $200 tools both have their merits in the long run.
