Some more updates! I got all the stuff in for my flex fuel setup, so I went ahead and got it all installed tonight. The results so far...are very impressive. Wet roads, so not a lot of testing, but it is quick!

Layout of all the parts:
- Moto-East FF Kit
- DW300C Pump
- DW700cc PI
- Delicious FNG Flex Fuel

Any reason you didn't have Moto East do the flex fuel tune? Any plans for dyno? Regardless, very stoked for you man!

Long story, a little less long:

I started with the delicious fng tune, and it performed well on 93. A retune from them with flex was only $130, so I figured staying with them for tuning was a good idea. From what I understand, adding flex fuel capability is pretty simple to an existing tune. After rescaling for the injectors, I believe there's just a custom map that is essentially a multiplier for your timing values based on voltage received from the flex sensor. So with that in mind, the tune is essentially the same just with a global increase in timing.

My original plan for flex fuel was to build my own kit to save some money. But I could not for the life of me find this one stupid fuel fitting. So I got frustrated one night, and ordered the Moto-East Kit lol. It is a little easier on the wallet than a comparable DT Kit (to the tune of about $200) and the only difference really was a mounting bracket and Bluetooth e content for android (I'm an iPhone person).

Dyno is in the works. I'm trying to organize a Dyno day (which was the plan even when on 93) but the devil seems to be in the details.

Looking forwards to that dyno

I've got the Delicious FF kit, and loving it so far... cannot imagine how awesome it would be with a SC too!

I've been going back and forth with the FF (the closest E85 for me is 20 mins away) and I've been pretty happy with the power. I do most of my monitoring using my phone and torque app, so the android app actually sounds good to me. Looking forward to your impressions.

I know the struggle! I had an e85 map on my old STI for a while, and at the time, the closest station was about the same for me (20min). It became such a hassle to fill up, that I promised myself I wouldn't go flex on any other cars of mine until more stations started to carry it. Well fast forward 2 years, and here we are

Can you comment on the installation of the E85 bits - I've never installed a new fuel pump, was it relatively simple, any soldering or cutting required? Is the delicious FNG tune straight out of the box? Is there anything daily driving that is worse on E85 aside from getting to the right gas stations - rough idle, hard to start etc?

The install is pretty straightforward for all of the supporting mods.
- The injectors (DW 700cc) were plug and play with adapter harnesses to clip into the existing harness.
- The fuel pump (DW 300c) was also plug and play with a jumper harness from the fuel pump to the pump canister. No cutting/soldering required as long as you buy the plug & play version of the pump.
- The flex fuel kit was also simple. The Moto-East kit (and probably others) plugs into the fuse box using an "add-a-fuse" so there is no need to cut/splice wires. The fuel lines were also an easy plug in, and the tool to disconnect the fuel lines was included in the kit.

The Delicious FNG flex fuel tune was as simple as loading the map up once the supporting mods were done, and it was good to go. I am currently working with them to get the part throttle driving to where I like it. Start takes a little longer on colder mornings, but it isn't bad. I'm averaging about 18.5mpg right now, which I'm happy with as E85 is $1.16/gal around me. Overall, driving impressions are very good.

If I recall correctly you had an Ace header on here when you first installed the supercharger. I'm curious what your reason was for swapping that out for the Gruppe-S?

Also, is that just dirt, a shadow, or is your front cam chain cover leaking?

You're correct, I originally had an ACE header on the car when I was NA. When I went the supercharger route, I elected to try out the Gruppe-S, so that I could continue doing some NA testing with the ACE. I still have the ACE header in my garage, and have plans to put it on another local BRZ. I will do some additional testing with it to see if I can produce better results than when I had it on my car.

My timing cover is definitely leaking, but not to the point that I've deemed it worthwhile to remove/reseal. I just rolled over 75,000 miles, and it has been that way for as long as I can remember. At this point, its just enough to 'saturate' the lower portion of the cover like you see in the picture, but doesn't actually drip or lose oil.

My car is an early one off the assembly line (#570 according to vin) so it has a lot of the issues that people complain about, they just bother me a lot less. Dash speaker cover popped up, tail light condensation, DRL condensation, GPS connectivity, BT connectivity, cam cover leak, front timing cover leak, 700C cal id, etc, etc. Thankfully no DI seal issues that I'm aware of.

Dyno Update:

So a couple days ago I dropped by Phantasm USA in Raleigh, NC. They are one of the nicer Dyno Jet facilities in the area. I definitely recommend them for any dyno services you may need.

I stopped in Monday evening to get some pulls done. The first run I tried was in 3rd, but had wheel spin due to the rain. So we dried off the wheels, and went back at it for a couple 4th gear runs. The first two runs were <1whp from eachother so I stopped after the second pull. These numbers were done with SAE correction factor, and a smoothing of 0.

A couple of friends were also there with me, and they took some pics while we were getting everything set up.Check them out:

That's about the best looking dyno sheet I've seen for a twin.

Very predictable power delivery and it seems to just keep climbing and climbing! That torque curve looks great too. Nice job!
