Andrew, I have noticed quite a few people on here and other forums already have build dates and delivery dates. I placed a deposit/order one week ago and just spoke to my dealer earlier today and they said they cannot give me any information in regards to allocations until the car is released next week on the 18th.
This seems like a fishy story to me, can you shed some light? I'm quite prepared to wait 4 months for my car but I dont want to be waiting 6-12 months... |

a few things are not finalised (eg. if pearl paint costs more) and the car isn't on the computer system so hence the delay. |

So what car isn't on the computer system? The fact that you ordered white or that the car hasn't been released yet? |

Sounds interesting, I can tell you what i did for my preorders, i wrote up a hand written contract for the sale of a new motor vehicle because they still exist. You may have ordered from a dealership where the sales staff have only been trained in the computer system of creating deals or it may be a management decision.
As a matter of fact i'm still using the hand written contracts until the 86 is in our ERA system. As for the lack of delivery information there could be a number of reasons behind it, once again the aforementioned management decision or it could be that they have made a stock inquiry with TMCA and not as yet received an answer, their stock controller may have had a day off, or maybe they are worried they can't deliver it this year - which i certainly hope is not the case but it worries me a little also. I know it's not a definitive answer but i had an RDO today and whilst i was in here (as in the forums) for a few hours this morning and liaising with management to keep all my orders on track, i haven't actually had a chance to speak with my stock controller today - she got swamped from all the new car deals from the long weekend i expect. But i will be back on deck tomorrow morning and will get the latest up to date delivery info i can. Let you know how i go. |

^^ thanks, that would be great!
I have a feeling that my dealership is with-holding information because they dont want to commit to something they can't follow through with, at least that's what im telling myself to make me feel better! Although when I paid my deposit last week I was told about 1000 orders had been received nationwide so 1500 coming in this year, I "should" be ok. I hope. |

I'm not sure what to do then? My deposit is subject to finance, final pricing and test drive so im not worried there but naturally since I was willing to sign a contract of sale and hand over some money I feel a sense of entitlement (along with the many others who have done the same!). What should I be specifically asking the dealer next time I speak to them so I dont get another shifty story? They said they would call me monday when the car is released but I thought the whole point to pre-ordering was to get in BEFORE the release!

Now, if you are applying for finance with the dealer* they may be holding back for a number of reasons not the least of which being what you said before about wanting to only give you confirmed details because there are a few things still up in the air with the pricing, metallic paint and actual rego/ctp, cost of the aero body kit, for example, which may or may not affect the pricing and the finance company or bank may not yet have the details of the car in their system either. These things are common when a new type of car gets released. Doesn't sound shifty to me necessarily but then i understand why they may be doing things this way. Also, every dealership has their own system of new car preparation from manufacturers depot to you the buyer. Frankly it could be any number of reasons but most likely they are trying to lock in the details first. If in doubt, contact the dealer, speak to the salesperson or manager before you freak out mate ![]() And Mark, just because his dealer handles things differently doesn't mean it's shifty, it might be but i doubt it in this case, heck it could even be a situation where the salesperson hasn't had much experience with new model releases before and doesn't know what to expect much less what to tell the client. *If you're applying for outside finance (that means any finance supplied not from a dealership source) they may not be able to proceed with your application until they receive a tax invoice from the dealer for the sale. The dealer at this time may not be able to produce one with all the details on it necessary for your application as we in dealerland are waiting for all the details ourselves. P.S. We have received one communique' from TMCA regarding accessory pricing stating that we will have it prior to the 18th, that's it though we expect more details between now and then or on the 18th itself. |

^^ that's indeed interesting. I did ask toyota about finance but will most likely be going with an outside company, although i dont intend on finalising that until i receive a clearer idea as to when I will get my car.
So do you think that them doing things the way they are is going to mean ill inevidably have to wait longer for my car or is this not necessarily the case? FWIW, when I signed the contract, the subject to finance was automatically included in there and the salesperson told me they wouldnt be fussed if I reneged for the reasons you have mentioned above. |

[QUOTE=newft86;254769]Hi mate, it's common practice in dealerland to not order a car for a deal which is subject to finance, though having said that, our dealership has ordered them anyway on the 86 as the cars are hot property and there is little chance we would get stuck with a car we didn't want.

I've been trying to get finance through my dealership but even they can't do anything until their system is updated on Monday. We'll just have to wait until then!
