For all Australian Sales Rep's & Customers

I'm putting this here for both fellow new Toyota Sales Rep's and Customers:

Hi guys n gals, just thought I’d let you know that the majority of GTS orders that have been taken in the past week where people have been given "September Delivery" may not be 100% accurate.

When i sold a bunch of 86 GTS's last week I was told on Wednesday the 6th of June around lunchtime (12-1pm), 2012 that the "Planned Production" month for 86 GTS Manual's and Auto's was August 2012 with September 2012 Expected arrival at the dealership. By that afternoon (approximately 2hrs later) we received updated build/logistics sheets from TMCA via stock control that had extended the planned production by one (1) month; i.e. from August Build/September Delivery to September Build/October Delivery - this happened within 2 days of the pricing being released. The decision may have been made earlier but i would hazard a guess that most Sales Rep's did not know about this until they received new GTS orders placed last week.

For the Sales Rep's:

Folks i urge you to check with your stock controllers first thing Tuesday morning (Monday is a public holiday in NSW) and update your customers ASAP. Personally i fielded a number of 86 enquiries over the weekend, including some from interstate, from customers who have felt betrayed by their selling dealers.

Now far be it for me to put another dealer before ours, i am, however, an honest guy and i told everyone i spoke with the same thing - don't shoot the Sales Rep's as they may not have known about it up front and unless you have already done so do not under any circumstances cancel the deal unless you no longer desire the vehicle; because when you try and get back in the queue for an earlier vehicle you will most likely find the wait is even longer - and that's not even counting the sales we all (Toyota Sales Rep's Aust. wide) have so far signed up over the long weekend.

Just the other day a forum member going by the name Funky_Fresh mentioned that he had personally checked the order bank at TMCA at the end of last week and he stated that there had already been over 1,000 orders taken on the 86. If you folks recall from the DSM Pack received back in February, 2012 you will remember how many units TMCA projected they would have for launch albeit they are trying to get more, however, if they are unable to do so for whatever reason, Funky_Fresh's other prediction of some vehicles being ordered over the next week or 2 may not be able to be satisfied this year may come true.

For the Customers:

Please don't shoot the Sales Rep's for something that is outside our control. There is no logical reason any dealer would want you to have to wait longer to take delivery of your new car as
we Sales Rep's don't get paid our commission until the vehicle is delivered and the balance paid to the dealer in full, cleared funds.

Secondly, i've said this a few times in these forums, elsewhere on others and in person to some of you:

If you desire to be the proud owner of a new Toyota 86 this year don't delay, you need to place your orders as close to immediately as possible.

As always, please feel free to contact me at any time via any of the following methods:

Excellent... bargaining power.

Thanks for the heads up Andrew - how is the stock level for the GT?

Can't decide between the GT or GTS.

Prefer the GT rims over the GTS, but prefer the GTS for the HIDs / Instrument Cluster and Brakes.

I already have a VIN for my GTS and was told it was in the country already with an April build date.

I'm still golden right?

Hi mate, we have a manual GT still available, however, stock is drying up fast.

Should be fine mate, if in doubt double check it with your dealer.

I'll have to keep in contact with my dealer. I'm 8th in line at my dealership lol. If I don't get my car before Xmas, then I would rather wait for the next year model. Because at that point, I would be over the wait.

Yea it would suck to wait for like 8 months, take delivery on a car you pre-ordered last year. Then a couple of months later you find out that the next year model wll come with improved (fill in the blank).

Cars built at the start of a new year tend to start appearing around late Feb-March/April in each year depending on a number of factors such as how long the factory was closed over Christmas, freight, etc.
