BRZ hit and run in rear bumper, what do?

I was at school for an hour, went back to my car to get stuff and some asshole did a hit and run on my series.blue BRZ. The damage to the bumper is a disaster . Any ideas on how to fix it myself? My friend recommended me to use Dr. ColorChip. I don't want to take it to an autobody shop as it'll be too much $$$ and my comprehensive insurance has a $1000 deductible.

I've attached the picture below :/
Any tips would be appreciated, thanks

in before totaled (its a running joke around here)

Sorry to hear, but I would clean it up best you can then maybe go buy some touch up paint and try to fill it in best you can if you are worried about the $$$. It really shouldn't cost more then $400-$500 to have it fixed at a bodyshop though

I live in the Bay Area in California, last time my brother's Mazda 3 had scrapes along the rear bumper and a hit on a fender resulted in $3500, with insurance verification too... Everything here is too expensive

I'm worried that those touch up paints will be extremely obvious as it's not a chip, but a whole damn scrape with some scratches around it

they have color matched spray cans too. my dad's camry got swiped in the same spot as yours and I bought the base coat spray can for like $20 and a clear coat can for like $10. also, I am not a professional painter or anything, but even with my bad spraying skills it looks about 70% good as new lol. I got a slight run in the paint but as long as you work slow and spray even coats, it should be fine. I bought my cans from automotive touchup

well with my poor painting skills, 70% is good for me. plus a $30 investment compared to $500 is good enough for me lol. granted, if it was my BRZ, I would probably pay a bodyshop to get it done right.

Just looked at some pricing for around my area, saw quotes as high as $1800 for rear bumper painting

maybe that price is to paint the whole bumper? I highly doubt you will need that for the corner damage. they should be able to blend it in with the original paint

I'd perodically check ebay for people selling their bumper covers. In my brief search, I found a couple (red and black) for a couple hundred bucks. Might be an Avenue to keep your eyes trained on.

Dude! You can't have it both ways. You can have cheap and 70% or expensive and 99% (never hit 100 on white).
Take it to some shops and ask them you may get a break if cash and no receipt.

Could be blended, then clear the entire bumper. $1800 is outrageous, might as well throw an extra grand in and repaint the whole car.

I would never colorchip that, it would forever look tainted to me.

Drive a couple of hours away? May be a pain but could be a pile cheaper. There is no do it yourself method that is going to be all that great in a spot like that.
