Don't worry - even with the key, you probably won't be able to push start it.
Apparently, the HPFP means that our cars, regardless of key fob or transmission type, will not allow bump-starting.
I tried for half an hour when my car wouldn't start a few weeks ago in an indoor parking garage, and the CAA guys basically said "don't bother"

If I'm not mistaken, the manual also says bump-starts are a non-starter (giggle).

Keyless + a sequential style automatic shift lever REALLY screws with people.

I don't know about you guys, but I get so excited whenever I reach my destination that I just fling the door open and jump out. "Yay. My Jeep made it to point B!"

I have no trouble bump-starting mine. Easy-peezy.

So a signal amplifier attack like that could allow a person to unlock your car, but you shouldn't be able to start it. I needa double check the manual later, but I think thats how it works.
This. In addition, the pad to unlock the doors on the handle won't work if it thinks the key is inside. If someone amplified the signal too much it wouldn't even unlock the doors. I guess a more effective attack would be to intercept and then clone the signal off the driver. Akin to remotely reading the magnetic strip from a credit card.

In fairness, I only tried it a couple times - and I was trying this on level ground with limited room to maneuver. Pushing it back into my parking space to wait for CAA for a boost = not a whole lot of fun.

Did you make use of a hill or anything?

Oh, It'd be impossible alone without a good long running start. I have a congested on-ramp where I shut down at the top and inch my way down. I bump-start out when it's my turn.

I've never had a car with such a tight engine. The compression is unbelievable.
