wow - that is awesome! so it is open much of the time, and if you and friends feel like going, you can just show up and drive? definitely not the case in the states. a full day will be 200 $US minimum.

do you have rules about passing to try and keep things safer - like no pass unless someone points you by, passing must be on a straight, etc?

i'm betting that it would be hard/expensive/impossible for me to rent a car nearby to take on the track that is actually fun. is that correct? how often do you go to these tracks? i would like to go as passenger if nothing else. if someone was to let me drive their car i wouldn't mind buying/bringing brake pads or something like that for them.

here are the local racetracks and where they are located and what you can run in the tracks, you can try googling that to be more specific:

Carmona Racing Circuit (Carmona, Cavite) - go kart, motorcycles

Batangas Racing Circuit (San Juan, Batangas) - cars, motorcycles, go kart (?)

Clark International Speedway (Clark, Pampanga) - cars (drift and track), motorcycles, go kart
do any of these tracks have rental go karts? or go kart schools/experiences you can take?

Quote:
City Kart Racing (Circuit Makati, Makati) - go kart
so far this one seems the only one i can arrive and know for sure i can go drive. and hey being right in makati is nice!

Quote:
there is a new one, Tarlac Racing Circuit (San Jose, Tarlac) but i havent been there and they said that the track is a bit small/narrow and suitable for go kart and motorcycles but they said you can run cars.. afaik, its the farthest as well compared to the ones i mentioned above
i found a kart place up there - http://www.lakadpilipinas.com/2012/0...kart-city.html
and youtube videos of the actual track but not too much else about it, looks like it just opened.

for our racing events, they usually start around Feb until Oct

i'll inform the admins of the group so they can add you to the group page
thanks, i'm on the page now! sounds like it might even be better to visit out of racing season (more open time to the public?) - i would be looking to go to makati for probably 4-6 weeks starting in january.

i also stumbled upon this place called boomland, but apparently it is done.
http://www.timeattackmanila.com/inde...t-track-closes

i also can't tell if this place still exists or not?
http://www.kartingasia.com/kart_trac...dzone-t84.html

i also found a racing school
http://www.tuasonracing.com/products...-race-training
with lots of programs, although no prices. not sure exactly where events are held either.

yup, it is open most of the time (except Mondays for Batangas and Clark, not sure about the others, for maintenance). there are contact numbers we usually get in touch just to inquire if the track is open to public. sometimes they close it out for testdrives and such for car companies.

there is, usually by signal light, we point out were the car behind can pass but you can't expect everybody to practice is, unfortunately.

yes, it will be hard to rent cars that will be used for the track. if you're into drifting thou, there are cars that i know that can be rented out and the drifting area that we have is quite near and within the city. but for track use, i dont think there is any.

Clark, Carmona, and Makati has, im not sure about Batangas if they have any for rent.

yup, its just a few kilometers away from main district of Makati.

yup, i think it just opened late last year and the place is still currently being developed. other than the track, i think they have other facilities over there.

i think around January, people are still preparing their cars so tracks may not be busy.

yup, i believe it's already closed. karting is not too big locally because it costs a lot of money for just a couple of minutes. usually, we are charged around 800 pesos (or around $15) for just 15 mins. just to give you an idea, minimum wage here is almost 500 pesos for 8 hours of work so you can really say that karting here is expensive.

yup, that's also closed as well. been awhile actually, i think that has closed early to mid 2000.

you can try looking for Jan Bacosa, he works with TRS (Tuason Racing School) and owns an 86. he might be able to help you out with any questions regarding them.

how much is something like that? is that in some of the vids i have seen of a cone track? i would figure drifting in general would be more likely to cause some damage, although less so if it's a big open area and cone track.

where can i find information about rental karts for clark and carmona? i would expect to see more online, although maybe i have done a poor job googling. :p

i can see that. too bad it could not stay open. i was in the philippines in 2003 and have not visited back yet. hopefully things are improving for all.

any tips on websites i should poke around for places to stay? i use airbnb a lot, but i'm wondering if i can find a monthly/weekly rental elsewhere that might be cheaper too. looking to stay around greenbelt i guess.

found jan's twitter, already shot a note to tuason to see what they say about their programs. thanks!

Hi, i'm planning to install the TRD bodykit. The OEM in Toyota cost too much. Is the third party kit comparable? Specifically the one available at a shop in Ortigas?

I was wondering if any of you guys have first hand experience with the GT Radial SX2?

GT Radial doesn't have a big market presence here in Canada, but I have access to them on a group buy hosted by a friend. It seems they do have a bigger presence in the Asias and UK/Europe though.

Can anyone compare them to a Dunlop ZII*, 595 RSR, RS3, etc?
