I'm hoping that, when the FR-S becomes an official Toyota product, they will bring out the true sportiness of the car instead of the fancy stylized bespoke editions (like my Series 10 ;-))

$10K brake kit alone,Toyota will not sell in the US so i highly doubt it.. I think it will be the same as Scion just a badge. If they did bring that model to the states it will be around $40k plus..Which is too high of a premium for this car imo...we can dare to dream though.

Why are FRS special editions so expensive?

This is starting from $32,800, and the series.HyperBlue the dealership was willing to give me for $30,495 which included freight already.

...they give us options(push start, dual climate control, jdm headlights...etc) we can't get from a dealer except for BRZ.

The RS 2.0 has upgraded wheels, an armrest, and a unique front and rear lip.

I'm not saying it justifies the cost, but the Hyperblue is pretty much a BRZ Limited with a front lip.

Seeing as Toyota doesn't have release series...this will most likely be the last one.

I sort of meant the cars in general but you do raise a valid point!

This was Scion's way to get around the "single model/configuration". My guess is that when it's labeled Toyota in 2017 there will be trim levels like there are in other parts of the world, and prices will be similar to what we have seen (or higher) for the upper trim levels.

Remember that Toyota has to leave padding in the price so they can "negotiate" with you.

I think they'll continue with special editions. Pretty sure they do (or at least did) them on the Tacoma.
