I think mine cracked from normal heat/cold cycling, then one cold night I pull back on the visor and snap the visor swung down limply in front of my face. apparently any movement of the sun visor is misuse as it was not designed to be moved when cold.

I'm not saying that this isn't a light duty part and has a propensity to be damaged easily, I'm saying that the users are breaking them and shouldn't expect somebody else to pay for their "misuse."
I manage customer support for a medical device manufacturer. We get the same stuff even though we are talking about things used in surgery! I know what you are saying, but it is too far a leap to say we are all breaking these because we handled them too roughly. Maybe a few have.

Mine's never been pushed or pulled too hard and just snapped in half. Looking at the design, it's weak because the leverage of the visor folding up and down turns into a force that twists perpendicular to the 2 mounting screws. It's a design that's going to fatigue and fail. If there was a metal base to it, it'd probably be good.

My wife's Altima has the same issue, and nearly the same design. And she broke hers also. Twice.

In my company we analyze failures and complaints and turn them into design improvements because people's lives depend on it. It seems car companies just take the attitude of screw the people who already bought the car, let's just sell more new ones! The post-sale service is utter shit as exemplified by the number of recalls across the industry. If we had that kind of thing, we'd be shut down by the FDA.

My driver side hinge broke as well.
Dealer jerked me around. Hoping to buy a used one in the market place thread.

Well mine just broke today.. Is there a cheap plastic piece I can buy to replace it or does the entire sun visor need to be replaced?

Are there alternatives that might be stronger or last longer?

not that I have found. I toyed with the idea of making a mold out of the broken flange, and casting it in aluminum or something, but was lazy and had the dealership replace the whole thing.

Are there any glues that can reinforce this part? I just took a look at mine and I can see a crack line building up. Which sucks because all I do is just flip it up and down, I never unhook it and swing it to the side.

Does anyone have a PN or a website that let's you order the driver side sun visor? I'd rather not deal with going to the dealer x_X.

Great thanks, I think the part number is correct. Ordered off a Toyota dealer eBay store for 64 w/ free shipping.

Yup, my brother's visor was replaced twice in the first year in his new civic.

Honda ended up being sued over this issue with their civics.

My wife's first Sunfire had the visor fall into her lap about 2 weeks after she bought the car new. Almost caused her to crash!

This morning my visor snapped off. I closed it by lifting it up. 3 years and that thing has been stiff and I figured it was still new after 2 and 9 months. This was on the driver side. the passenger side is fine plus its easier to open and close it.
