Never bothered me either. I didn't care for the Scion "lifestyle" and still don't, but they had a car I wanted. I bought it. The end.

Well since we only had one local dealer and they have only been here a little over two years the whole lifestyle thing never was a factor. I love the blank looks I get when I say "it's a Scion"

On my registration it is listed as a Scion under Make. I realize this varies location to location. I understand the background of these cars and that technically Scion is Toyota. What I'm trying to say here is we bought the Scion model of the car and it is what it is.

Strange, in Oregon it's a Toyota.

Anyways, to me, I see things the opposite way. It was always a Toyota, rebranded as a Scion for America. I mean come on - Akio Toyoda spearheaded the project! It was his passion that made the car possible - so putting a Toyota badge on it is really just removing Toyota America's silly rebranding decision... one which at this point they're basically admitting to by dissolving the brand, regardless of whatever marketing press release fluff they're trying to sell the public/auto industry/investors.

The only real reason I haven't swapped my badges already - I have had better things to spend my money on...lol.

I see where you are coming from. To be honest, I considered changing out my emblems as well.

I would argue that it would be similar (though a little far-fetched) to rebrand a BRZ with Toyota emblems as it was designed by Toyoda. It is what it is, and all who drive it (or most everyone) appreciates the platform no matter how it is branded. At the end of the day, it is just that - a brand. If changing your emblems makes you feel better about the car, more power to you. It won't make your car any better or worse.

And yes I understand that Subaru had an equal contribution as Toyota in the creation of the car, just brought up the analogy for comparison's sake.

It's still a part of the 86 family so I have had fun adding little 86 trinkets to the car, but haven't wasted my time trying to make it something it just isn't.

But at the end of the day, to each their own

My registration literally just says TOYOTA and the engine size as H4 2.0L, my insurance however says Toyota Scion FR-S

Agreed on all points. My motive for changing the badges is more of a homage thing, to honor the origins of the car.

I totally understand the homage thing. That is exactly why I considered it. I guess I'm more directing my comments to the people who are "ashamed" to be driving a Scion. Just a brand, and we get to drive this fantastic platform with a lower cost of entry, albeit with less creature comforts (and lack of HIDs )

You're actually driving a Subaru. The only things from "Scion/Toyota" is your HPFP and the preloaded startup image of the logo on your radio.

But at the end of the day, to each their own.
