Funny bit about Toyota wheel-caps

So I got my JDM Toyota wheel-caps in the mail today (thanks CarsonToyota!)

Nice! But I was too amused by the other side...

It was kinda funny to see the Subaru logo all over the mechanical bits of this car, but to see it on the actual Toyota logo itself? Priceless!

That's funny. It seems that subaru is so keen to mark the car as their baby. If you pop the hood, every bits says SUBARU. I wonder if there actually a TOYOTA badged part, bar the emblems.

Well considering it's made in a Subaru plant and line, what would you expect? Ever look under the hood of a VW Routan? It's all Chrysler since it's just a re-badged Town & Country made at their Windsor plant. At least the FT86 was a joint development between both, plus Toyota owns a (17% I believe) stake in Subaru so it's really a wash as far as I'm concerned.

agreed. It just looks humorous. As for the Routan, hope VW can bring their Sharan

I wonder what the weight-savings will be if this car ever manages to shed its emotional baggage from its passive-aggressive parents.

good question.

i think car makers usually source their wheels from other wheel companies such as ray's. can someone confirm this?

Yeah, they usually do. A lot of Japanese car manufacturers use Enkei or Ray's but I can't say for sure what Subaru or Toyota would use in this case. If someone took the wheel off and looked on the inside, they might see a branding somewhere.
