I never tracked on 215s, and I went straight from the primacies to MPSS. So I can't tell if the changes I experienced were due to the compound, the size, or the tire construction. But it was totally a good choice--thoroughly pleased with the 225 MPSS, both on and off the track.

One has to note that even if one had used 215 stock sized width MPSS, it's actual thread width will still be much wider then thread width on Primacies.
