The Infiniti S badge I spotted on a Corolla last night is rice. The eBay wing on the back of a Honda Del Sol without enough power to legitimately use it, and actually weighs so much it fucks up the power to weight ratio, that's rice. Some of you guys have weird definitions of what rice is.

I agree, throwing STi badges everywhere doesn't make it an STi, and some people are kind of stupid about it, but if the badging is in the correct locations, it's not really rice, especially if they're trying to emulate a tS.

Back on topic though, these don't look too bad, but I think I like the mirror signal location better.

RICE = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement

I wouldn't label these garnishes as RICE. I don't care too much for them, but i also don't think they're hideous. I've seen a regular C class mercedes with an AMG decal on the back. THAT is RICE. But if the C class had AMG wheels on, that's fine.

If this is what you're talking about:

Those are actually OEM. I think it's some sporty appearance package they could be ordered with.

Haha, no guys, I know what the Corolla S looks like. It was literally the S badge from a G37S.

Sport package. Comes with different sideskirts and front / rear bumper extensions. Other small stuff but that's the big part.

Rice no longer means rice, it means I don't like it. If you don't like it that's fine. You don't need to stink up the thread with your negative opinions.

Sorry I got your post mixed up with another person saying they were gonna cut into it and make it functional. Ooops😅

And it's not rice because "I" like or dislike something, what makes it rice is the mimicking of a performance oriented part for cosmetic effect. Yes the factory non-functional vent falls under my broad definition of rice, it's done to look like a vent instead of being a true vent.

TBH I wasn't trying to be all that negative, just end the back and forth about the STi badging. It's all cosmetics, I mean what makes a fake badge different from a fake vent?

And it's not even that I don't like it, I just feel the LED strip makes the front end a little too busy for my taste. Sans LED it would, imo look good and very minimal. Anyways GL with the GB👍🏽

I will say tho, having options for fender garnish is a lot better than being stuck between the two OEM+ options.

I would hardly consider a vent/garnish a performance item. I personally hate how the factory garnish looks like a vent but is just plastic. This one has actual holes in it, which at least is more visually pleasing, to me anyway.

I think the car is missing a sidemarker blinker, I was going to turn the factory side marker into a blinker but then found this.

Well if it had the proper ducking and venting it could be a performance part but eh. You got a point

And what could be cheesier-looking than the stock decoration on a BRZ, which irks me every time I get into the car? Which is black also, and only marginally improved by throwing $100+ at it for the little chrome spear. Not to mention the (lack of) finish -- it reminds me of stamped retail packaging plastic.

The light strip resembles the swoopy style of all the other lamps on the exterior, it has a nice gloss like the paint, and the overall look remains to my eyes like an upgrade. To each his own!

And BTW, I find the whole "rice" epithet a little cheesy, too. Some of the above posts seem to define a non-functional decoration as "rice." But if we're talking fake fender vents, remember that Detroit invented them -- Buicks have sported them for 65 years, and there's nothing Japanese or Asian about them. Throwing the word "rice" around skates a little close to you-know-what to my ears. But again, to each his own.

Black paint does a lot for the car from the get-go anyway, considering how much exterior trim is black to begin with: front grille/bumper, edging around all windows, roof strips, headlight interiors and fog light pods, side mirror trim, alloy wheel spokes, the optional fuel filler door and dark window tint, and I'm sure I left out a half-dozen or so.

Anyway, on my Sterling Silver Metallic, it all stands out pretty well, also, and I think the fender strip should blend okay.
