Not tristate, but Moto-East has a lot of experience tuning 86s and they're in eastern PA

I highly doubt this kit will make 400whp on E85, not saying its impossible... but highly unlikely without every single part on the car being perfect and optimized for the setup. Most people are going to see low 300's, which if tuned correctly is reasonably safe for a street car.

We never said you had to build the engine with the high boost pulley.

Tuning is required with the high boost pulley. We don't recommend using the high boost pulley on CA91 octane fuel.

What makes you doubt it can make that kind of power? We've already seen the C30 with highboost pulley make 370whp on E85 with a full exhaust.

I can't see why a C38 and the high boost pulley wouldn't bring at least another 30whp to the table. Maybe more. If it can't then there wouldn't be much of a point to upgrade....

Ok, sorry let me amend that... I don't think people will make 400whp on a realistically reading dyno. Dynos can of course be manipulated to read w/e the heck you want, and different dyno types read wildly differently. I don't want to start a debate about that though.

Obviously there is no consensus on this board about what is "safe" or "reasonably safe" or "really dangerous", there is also a large amount of ignorance about the realities of dyno readings. And then theres the matter of the quality of the tune, and that is a deep dark rabbit hole that I can't even touch. ---- All of which is off topic in this thread.

Nope nope nope nope nope and just more nope. You're quoting one dyno from one car on probably the highest reading dyno in the country. It reads so high it's an ongoing joke. I have bolt on Civics that dyno 260 on that dyno... which dyno 210-215 anywhere else... LOL.

It's a great dyno as a tuning tool, but if anyone takes the numbers from there at face value, I have to wonder if they still drink from one of these.

Here's just one example of many... same car, same setup, just rolled over to that dyno the very next day after tuning it for miracle #'s and things to laugh about over drinks that night.

Realistic #'s: http://pics.fullavit.com/tuned/mike_sc_aftercooler.jpg

That dyno has it's head in the clouds.

Realistically expect 320-340 on your more down to earth dyno on E85, maybe 350ish on a little higher reading dyno.

Nothing that is really "dangerous" when in the proper hands. I'm putting nearly 400wtq (on a "realistic" reading dyno) through our shop FRS... 220 -250tq for only a small rev range on the top end isn't going to load the motor long enough to hurt anything when running a proper tune.

It does when you have a driver than can exploit that power.

.
Point taken. Had no idea on the dyno that was used for previous dyno run.

However....I still find it hard to believe the C38 is only going to give you 320-340whp.

Think about that....there a number of dyno's of stock pulley JRSC C30's hitting 300whp on E85 with exhaust. Most people seem to be on the same page that 300 is completely within the realm of possibility. That's on a max ~9psi.

If a C38 WITH a highboost pulley can "realistically" only hit 320-340, then that's not much of an "upgrade" in my opinion.

In all reality, the transmission won't survive a 30 minute session on track at that power level.
