I highly doubt this kit will make 400whp on E85, not saying its impossible... but highly unlikely without every single part on the car being perfect and optimized for the setup. Most people are going to see low 300's, which if tuned correctly is reasonably safe for a street car.

Tuning is required with the high boost pulley. We don't recommend using the high boost pulley on CA91 octane fuel. |

I can't see why a C38 and the high boost pulley wouldn't bring at least another 30whp to the table. Maybe more. If it can't then there wouldn't be much of a point to upgrade.... |

Obviously there is no consensus on this board about what is "safe" or "reasonably safe" or "really dangerous", there is also a large amount of ignorance about the realities of dyno readings. And then theres the matter of the quality of the tune, and that is a deep dark rabbit hole that I can't even touch. ---- All of which is off topic in this thread.

It's a great dyno as a tuning tool, but if anyone takes the numbers from there at face value, I have to wonder if they still drink from one of these. ![]() Here's just one example of many... same car, same setup, just rolled over to that dyno the very next day after tuning it for miracle #'s and things to laugh about over drinks that night. Realistic #'s: http://pics.fullavit.com/tuned/mike_sc_aftercooler.jpg Miracle #'s: http://pics.fullavit.com/tuned/mike_si_29.jpg That dyno has it's head in the clouds. Quote:
Nothing that is really "dangerous" when in the proper hands. I'm putting nearly 400wtq (on a "realistic" reading dyno) through our shop FRS... 220 -250tq for only a small rev range on the top end isn't going to load the motor long enough to hurt anything when running a proper tune. |

However....I still find it hard to believe the C38 is only going to give you 320-340whp. Think about that....there a number of dyno's of stock pulley JRSC C30's hitting 300whp on E85 with exhaust. Most people seem to be on the same page that 300 is completely within the realm of possibility. That's on a max ~9psi. If a C38 WITH a highboost pulley can "realistically" only hit 320-340, then that's not much of an "upgrade" in my opinion. |
