Header thread #9001

After reading through the compilation threads and using the handy dandy search button I could not find information on Apexi's header/over pipe/front pipe kit. (Part #149-T014J) Has anyone used it? Does it actually exist? For the price it seems like something I wouldn't mind experimenting with but there has to be a reason I haven't found so much as a youtube video of it in action.

It costs $2200 MSRP. That's why.

My local parts guy can get the kit for around $1600 shipped. I'm gonna call tomorrow and get more info about it. I may end up being the forum guinea pig if I don't hear anything negative about it.

IMO, you are paying an extremely high premium for the apexi brand. I highly doubt it will sound any different or outperform any cheaper similar setup.

It is a 4-2-1 header w/ a normal overpipe and a catted front pipe and oversized resonator.

If there is something unique about this design, I'm not seeing it other than the resonator.

If you're spending that cash, why not go with the Holy Grail of headers and get the Ace? It's a known quantity and has proven super gains

Looking at it strictly from a header/overpipe/frontpipe point of view you are saving a few dollars then if you pieced it together and got a resonated front pipe or something with cats. Depends on what you're using obviously.

I, personally, would go with a proven combo.... but there is something to be said for buying a kit you know works together.

I was looking at Ace but who knows when they'll start producing again.

I'm not exactly in a rush or anything. I just want to see if anyone has used this kit before. The header looks similar to the HKS non-catted which shows good gains. I think the fact that the Apexi comes with a matching over pipe and front pipe is what really has my interest, but that could just be OCD talking.

The front pipe looks nice. Looks like it would help tone down the sound a lot of you add headers like how the kit does. How much is the front pipe separately?

Kestrel: imho halt won't be that long. Maybe in month or two it will end. At least i read that new product release like maybe then they will be back to production. One can always inquire CSG about availability anyway.

Yeah, interested in that front pipe cause it's catted and has a Resonator.
