Suspensions are obviously too soft. But 245 might be faster at this track that turns a lot.

I was limited with 225 on the Lotus, so I guess they worth it on the 86.

Next time I will be on coilovers to find out.

10-12k.

Double the base spring rate looks like the absolute minimum.

Lap times were pretty much meaningless.

At track speed, the steering is fine. Not Lotus quality, but I guess it will be good with ball joints top mounts and the right bushings.

When I had the opportunity to have some grip, the ad08r were moving the stock suspension all over the place. Definitely way too soft.

They look like really good tires.

I had corner entry oversteer, not crazy, but unexpected on a stock suspension. Definitely a drift car.

Pedal dance is a pain to do. I had it right once. I drove without after that. I need that magic box to make it automatically.
Without the dance, slight ABS activation makes the driving line inaccurate.
The Ice was more of a pain than that, so I changed my braking a bit for today.

The RR works fine. That was a easy day for them. It needs more testing.

The gas pedal calibration is total journalists crap. 2nd gear was totally useless in this conditions. Feels like you have 50% torque with 1% travel.

The rain started at the end of the midday break. So I went home, missing the opportunity to shoot a video on the non icy track (sorry about that)

Even with the 1Hz GPS, Racechrono predictive lap timing worked great. That's one hell of a tool. I need that 10Hz sensor :p

At the end of the day, that's a great car with massive potential. It drives exactly like the spec sheet says.

I was really happy driving back home in the rain, not being in the Lotus on worn out a048r.

I guess I miss Lotus ABS which is faster.

The car is a lot easier to catch thanks to the weight distribution. But the soft springs make the catch less accurate.

Edit: I drove 2.22.00 for an optimal lap of 2.21.86
Given the conditions that's OK. In the dry in the Lotus on new a048r I guess I can drive 2.00.00.
The 86 might do 2.05 - 2.07 I guess. 2.10.00 is totally sure.

hopefuly this video helps you sort out suspension issues/questions you might have. subframe bushings are soft.

It looks like my Lotus will go soon. That means more parts for the 86.

I'll try to spend around 10k€ at first.
Around 3k will go to the Nitron R3 and the trip to the UK.

I need a high end GPS receiver. Probably the 20Hz Vbox sport.
http://store-eu.vboxmotorsport.co.uk...&product_id=50

I need a tyre pyrometer and digital pressure gauge. The less expensive Longacre stuff will work fine I guess.

I need a torque wrench, a cordless impact gun and a lightweight jack.

That should leave something like 6k for upgrades.

Maybe ACE type B header + Delicious Tuning calibration and EcuTeck stuff.

4,55 or 4,67 final drive.

OS Giken LSD

Good sway bares.

Or a new set of wheels and slick tires.

What would you do ?

Nitron failed to find an 86 in the UK for development. I'll bring mine to them in exchange of a 50% discount and free installation.

Vbox receivers are good but expensive. You can check also the AIM receivers which are good and offer additionally data-logging. AIM Solo DL can connect to your ECU and monitor or data-log additional parameters (oil temp, water temp, rpm's, etc.) Then you can check more details about your driving.

Yes, you're right. I need to look at the DL too.

Suspension, LSD, sway bars, header+EcuTek are definitely on my list, and slicks would be the last thing i'd go for.

I'd get the TRD cross mission gear set(or Cusco's) to go with a shorter final drive.

PS: Do you know if Nitron is looking to test the R1's as well? 50% off...y envy you!

PS2: I didn't know about Longacre products, cool stuff!

Yes, the Cusco gear set looks super usefull. But the labour cost must be crazy.

I think Nitron will test both R1 and R3 on my car.

I had to cancel with Nitron because I can't cross the border at the moment. The paperwork for the car is very late.

That sucks.

I'll buy JRZ, maybe even the 12-32 crazy race stuff.

The Lotus is supposed to be sold this Saturday.

I have an order at CSG for ACE header, Delicious calibration and SPL suspensions that is ready to go as soon as I got the money from the car.

One last family shot :
