12-14 week wait for my new wheels?
Hi folks,
After working my butt off over the holiday season, I rewarded myself by ordering a new set of Wedsport wheels. 30 minutes after placing the order online, I get a call from the vendor telling me it would be 12 to 14 weeks before I would receive them, even though there was nothing on the website saying there was a wait (at least nothing I ever saw). Is this normal? I was just curious. Dropping that much hard earned cash on something, then having to wait 3 months to get it is a hard pill to swallow. |

Hard pill to swallow but "normal" in this industry; especially for special wheels.

do you know if your specs on the wheel are special order? try looking at other vendors and ask them if they have it in stock and buy from one that does. if it's a special order, then that time frame seems about normal

Dam I would cancel that order as soon as they called me.
But at lest they called you first.

I know the size I ordered seems to be a bit narrower than what most people are running (18x7.5). They offered me an 18x9.5 in a different color, but I don't want or need wheels that wide, and I want the color I originally ordered. If I'm going to plunk down that much money on something, I want it exactly to my specifications. The only reason I didn't cancel the order is because the person who called me was very polite.

If you happen to order something that is not common or is stocked, you will have to wait. I had to wait for a few monhs (maybe 6, forgot) for my Hypersilver color that Gruppe-S was offering.
I think more commonly stocked sizes for those wheels are 17x8, 17x9, 18x8 (8.5) in Titan Silver color and 18x9.5 in gloss black whatever that color is. I don't see 18x7.5 listed and never saw anyone mention that width. Yea it sucks they dont notify on exact wait times, but even they don't know exactly some times, or maybe they do, but tell you earlier date and you just put up with it. Anyway, in you case, if you don't like the wait, ask for refund and find what you like elsewhere or re-consider the specs to see if anything is more readily available. |

I've never bought special wheels but from what I've seen everywhere that's normal. I am about 3/4 way thru my 8 week wait for brake pads...

.Depending on the sizing you ordered, it will take a few months to receive your wheels. In my experience with high-quality Japanese wheels, very few sizes are actually kept stocked by various vendors - just the more popular sizing. So, especially if the sizing you ordered isn't popular in the North American market (I also ordered my wheels in the same sizing as you (a popular sizing in Japan), and several vendors I inquired with tried to steer me towards a much wider sizing that they had in-stock), expect to have to wait - I assume the manufacturers make a specific wheel and sizing in rotating batches, and the process of making even one wheel takes time. I think it'll definitely be worth it in the end - I just tell myself that it's probably better they're arriving closer to Spring since I rarely drive my car in the winter, unless it's a rare nice day. Quality takes time, and it's pretty cool to know that your set of wheels is going to be brand new, and hasn't been sitting around in a warehouse, moved and jostled around, etc. In my case, I'm not sure I would have even been able to purchase the wheels if it weren't for the wait time - which allowed me to simply place a 50% deposit, and pay the other 50% once the wheels ship; I was still going to school when I ordered the wheels, and wasn't able to work full time because of that. This is also my first time purchasing new wheels, so I actually appreciate the waiting time as it has allowed me the time to research tires, lug nuts, and the suspension components that is best for me prior to the wheels arriving. I'm not sure if that will help console you any, but I think you'll be happy. It was a tough decision for me between the wheels I ordered and the WedsSport SA10-R. If you appreciate quality over quantity, then I don't think you'll regret the wait one bit - and they'll still arrive on time for Spring when the nice weather rolls around, meets, etc. The only thing that is a bit of a red flag to me is that the wait time wasn't communicated to you until after the order was placed. My sales consultant contacted Rays for me and was up-front with me about the longer wait time, and exactly what length of time that would be prior to sending me an invoice (which reflected the wait time) and payment. However, if they're allowing you a full refund on the wheels if that's too long for you, then I don't see anything to be overly concerned about. TLDR; yes, that is totally a normal amount of time to have to wait for the wheels - only thing that seems off if the wait time should have been clarified prior to them accepting payment. Can you try another vendor that might have them in stock? My made-to-order Works for my other car took between 2 to 3 months to get them
