Everything is relative though. The RRP for my BRZ A/T with leather seats is around $45,000 AUD drive away ie no more to pay. Our two markets are very different and the taxes, registration fee's insurance etc can be quite different, even with second hand. My apologies perhaps it might be more expensive in your part of the world than mine, hence your trepidation over whether to commit to the purchase now or wait. Registration, on roads, plates and all I think was no more than $1500 AUD here new or used. Someone might need to correct me if I'm wrong though. I'm privileged to have never bought used so lack the personal experience.

![]() Uh yes, buying a new car and then trading it in 2 years after will cost more than buying a used car and trading it in 2 years after. This is really elementary stuff and common sense. However, I don't know how this applies to me, or anyone currently, and is completely out of the blue. I don't have a used 86, nor do I plan on buying a new 86 tomorrow, just to trade them in if I like the MY17. Neither of those options are my plan, so why does it sound like you're trying to tell me that I'd be better off doing this or that Literally no one has said anything about having bought a used twin to trade it in for a MY17, but you keep talking about it for some reason. To clarify my situation: I don't have my own car at the moment nor do I have a need for one. I currently DD the family's Corolla. I will need my own car next year due to schedule conflicts which perfectly correlates to the release of the MY17, which is rumored to have minor upgrades. I am waiting to see whether or not I like the facelift and if the upgrades are significant, and if they're nice I'll buy a new MY17. If not, I'll buy a used MY14/15 or maybe a new MY16 discounted for clearance. If I buy an 86, used or new, right now, I'm paying a lot of money for a decision I might regret in a year so I am waiting. If I like the MY17 but there's a really good deal on MY16s, I won't have buyers remorse since it would then be a conscious choice that I took the older model in order to save money. If you're trying to tell me to buy a used 86 and then trade it in next year, that would literally make me take a hit, completely ignoring the factor of time and stress from buying/selling, of around 5000 dollars in taxes, depreciation, and trade margins to a dealership. I would be losing one fifth of an entire new 86 just because I couldn't be bothered to wait a year and wanted something I didn't need. That's just stupid life decision making right there. I guess you have your answer then
![]() I myself waited two years and worked hard to solidify my finances and made sure I was in a good financial position to afford this car. It was worth the wait for me. You will only need to wait a few months to know if the features on the 2017 were worth the wait, but if history is anything to go by, I'm not expecting much beyond a mildly tweaked front and rear.

nothing wrong with an iphone 4. The newer ones are not really significantly better. I'm still waiting for actual fast data for phones, even 4g lte isn't remotely reliable.
