Truf. And we don't really even get serious rain in SoCal.

I had to take a quick TC-off spin last night because it got foggy/misty enough to leave the ground damp.

I have drove through up to 14 inches of snow on a 150 mile commute many times.
people here can be doomed as well though especially the "I have AWD so I don't need snow tires crowd". I smile and wave as I go past them.

OH I play too but just when the time is right. The majority of the time I am on streets that have to much traffic though. I think you are far from the only guy here that gets on it when it is safe to do so.

Yep. New Years day I went and had some fun at one of the closed down factories around here.

This appplies to any car, FWD, RWD, whatever. Skills and being careful and gentle will help a lot on a flat or gently rolling road. But on an ice/snow-covered incline, when the circumstances exceed what your tires can offer, ultimately the best skills will be of no help, at best you'll be able to choose where you end up, gently in a ditch or hard against a pole.

If there is variance in the surface conditions, then skills and thinking might help a bit. I was once caught by overnight snow in April in Blue Ridge Mountains, facing an uphill section of the road, covered with snow and ice. There were however patches of exposed surface, so by going from patch to patch, accelerating within the patch and crossing snow-covered areas with help of inertia, I was able to pass a struggling Mini and get to the top. I was exteremely motivated though, breakfast was waiting at the top. The Mini driver, by the way, followed my example, and got to their breakfast too.

The summer tires are super sketchy in snow/ice. Good tires make all the difference.

We don't. lol that's why nobody here is used to driving when it does actually rain. haha
But I mean if this El Nino thing is really gonna be true then we're gonna get so much rain.
I remember like the second week of January you guys got a tornado warning over there in San Diego?!? Tornado & San Diego don't belong in the same sentence.

14 inches of snow in an FRS?! I feel like you'd effectively be a snow plow at that point. haha.
Do you ever need to use snow chains? Are we even able to put chains on our cars??
Wow I guess tires really do make the biggest difference.

I drove in snow deep enough last year that I probably looked like a submarine with all the snow going over the car. Try rolling though drifts at about mid hood height, BIG fun

The snow plow theme was a long running joke last year. It was light fluffy snow usually and it was easy to just blast through. Put a cool plume up each side of the car. If we get any snow this year I will try to get some video.
You can not use chains on these cars. It is right in the manual. Mine is lowered anyway so there would not be enough clearance in the wheel wells.

lol I'm just hoping that it doesn't flood too much because of El Nino. Because I think it'd be a bit more difficult to push through a foot of water than a food of light fluffy snow. haha
I'm sure that would look pretty cool actually. You should get some drifting videos in the snow like that; that would be some good footage.
That's what I thought; I couldn't even really imagine these cars with chains on them lol

I drove home at 3:30am, and while 95 looked clear, it was pretty damn icy. I ended up going sideways at 60mph. Wasn't fun.

Sadly, my Trans Am on worn out all seasons did better in the snow than the FRS.
