Are you new to manual? First is your torque gear it will jerk if let off quick. That's your leaving the line gear basically. Lota torqu there to get ya going. Second thru sixth should smooth out. If you are a new stick driver you might be letting off to quick. Slow to go unless you purposely dump it. Hang on. If you aren't new then can ignore everything I said.

When you say "jerk" does the car actually move? Or do you just feel a thunk when you move the shifter to first?

If the car moves you have a clutch issue.

If you just hear the thunk its normal.

No I have been driving stick for 4 years. Can downshift and heel-toe smoothly. But my old civic si did not behave like that so it kinda scares me.

I found the solution to this problem. Once i keep the clutch down for 2-3 seconds it does not happen. Thanks all for helping me out. It was scary because I thought transmission had a problem.

"Just thunk" imho is not so much nature of RWD, but rather slight diff loading on ours, when one engages in gear.

sorry for the thread jack but heres a question

1) when i clutch in to start the car everything is fine, however while in N i take my foot off the clutch i can feel the car nudge forward and the rpms drop about 100-200.

2)when driving and coming to a stop, i sometimes find the car stuck in the gear. im fully clutched at the time, however the still feels like clutch is engaged and the car stalls or i have to force it into N

from my personal guess, i feel like my clutch isnt full disengaging. would the clutch peddle adjustment be the problem?

thanks guys!!

I'm guessing both of these happen when it's still cold. No worries. Cold gear oil is as thick as molasses. This is the best time to work on shifting rhythm.

The jerk / stuck in gear honestly sounds like it isn't properly disengaging, could just be the viscosity of the oil when cold, or if it happens after the cars warmed up then something could be messed up on the clutch itself or the throw out bearing is messed up - does it whine when you're driving at all? also is this from cold or does it still happen after the cars warmed up?, as ultra said above, gear oils not very forgiving when its cold and this time of year it stays cold a lot longer.

If it happens when the cars warmed up and you're still in warranty i'd say take it in for inspection.

Not as bad, but I still notice it damn it!!! Haha and when I'm driving it's already warmed up, I kinda feel like it's not disengaging properly.. Thanks guys!
