MY15 BRZ A/T bought new, now with 8500km in 1.5 years ish. Drop in STI air filter, Cusco 4.556 FD and aluminum drive shaft are the only performance mods so far.

I feed her nothing but the best ethanol free 98 premium fuel from my local Caltex servo. Never heard a chirp from the fuel pump (ala crickets).

Rides really well and the only squeaks are from some foam tray's in the boot (either side of the spare wheel) that rub against each other on bumpy roads. Might buy some of those stickers people use on furniture to avoid scuffing wooden floors and apply them on rubbing points.

Stock ride height is actually surprisingly easy to live with day to day with reasonably steep driveway's and speed humps not scraping or banging any doors on concrete curbs when I park.

The mirrors are nice and large. If you adjust them properly ie almost maximum out, so you only barely still see the sides of the car, and a little down I find no issues with blind spots and can quite easily see the curb when parking so no scuffed wheels as yet.

Seats and driving position in general is (to me pretty amazing). I'm 6'1" with a heavy build but still have about an iPhone 6 widths (hope that makes sense) worth of head room with the seats fully lowered. I have the Leather and Alcantara seats and they prove really grippy and support me in all the right places. I have only driven long stints twice at 2hrs a pop and felt perfectly comfortable.

I'm a little lead footed so my fuel consumption is a touch high, but nothing compared to the odd 20L/100km my previous V8's used to do with similar driving. Servicing has been surprisingly cheap at $208 every 9 months for AU cars.

Did my own first oil and filter change in the start (if you are interested in doing your own), which was surprisingly easy given the filter location. I could probably do it in 20min now with the only time constraint being the need to wait for it to properly drain!

10/10 - I would strongly (and have) recommend an MY15+ twin to anyone looking to buy a sporty two door.

Stock 2014 BRZ with just shy of 50K miles. No issues. I pull an oil sample at every oil change and send it off to Blackstone. Not a single engine problem noted yet.

Yeah, it has the minor ticks and rattles. This is a $25K sports car, not a Lincoln. If you want smooth and quiet, a $25K sports car is not for you.

My car is fine. No problems. It's a 2013 EUDM GT86 High with 45000km on it.

Take a look at this:

25k, bad TOB, 2014, 37J, 6mt.

Just paint being thin sucks. All else is 10/10.

Fanboy review:

Needs more hp/tq and better MPG. My old ae86 had better mpg but less hp/tq

^^^this^^^ I was too lazy to retort. Even my '13 understeers. IIRC the only change was to the FR-S. They went with the lower BRZ rear spring rates, no?

I am a 46 year old, driving fanatic, who uses his BRZ as a commuter, back road carver and occasional track day racer. I have moved from a VW Scirocco, to a VW GTI, to 2007 Civic SI to the BRZ. The Scirocco was the best handling car I had driven until the BRZ came along. Ratings...8...6...7...9 respectively.

My car has 30k miles on it and no performance mods. The 3rd gear does not go in easily when the car is cold (note every performance car i have driven has gear issues). There have been no major problems of note so far. It drives like a dream and i do not reach its limits on the street.

The magic of the BRZ is in its ability to handle incredibly well, keep you out of trouble, keep the insurance low, have 2+2 seating, see insurance, have amazing ride quality considering what it does on corners and have the ability to seem like it is classes above its station...baby Ferrari is going too far, but it is classy.

The sound system is awful and the navigation could be better, but I can live with it. The trunk will hold the weekly groceries...amazingly. Ultimately, a hot hatch may suit you better if you want the family to tag along, but I take my wife and 15 year old son out with me regularly for trips less than 45 minutes; after that it gets too cramped in the back for my son.

I love, love, love this car for its handling and its day-to-day livability!

No issues with my '15 BRZ. Bought new and it just passed 7500

miles coming home tonight. Only issue issue I have but am too

freaking lazy to let the dealer fix it is the rev fluctuations while in park.

Oh and the sub in the trunk rattling the rear deck while listening to

metal like Slipknot

I know this is a big one that many of us have to deal with but my only issue so far is a 5 gallon bucket doesn't fit in the trunk standing up, it's about 1/4" too low to get in there.

2015 FRS here, bought new October 2014.

Current miles 24,500.

Zero problems so far, nothing worth going back to the dealership for. Thankfully I read about any and all problems to expect...like the crickets.
No squeaks or rattles, and that's why I bought a newer model, rather than a used 2013.
From what others have said, guess anything 2014 or newer would make a good choice.

I'm 69yo. Have taken two trips with my car coast to coast and back home. It's a very good freeway car. I don't track my car, yet do sometimes beat it on dirt roads, winding asphalt as well. And I beat it quite hard (in revs), on dirt roads, day after I bought it. Did not pay any attention to any break-in cautions.

As others may have said, paint is soft. You can expect lots of rock/pebble marks in hood, also in windshield...also due to how low this car is, for sure.

Tons of blind spots to sides and rear. Not easy to see when backing up this car. Very difficult to see where front of car is from driver's seat...thus, easy to hit concrete parking stops. Well, it's a sports car, what do I expect.

What I'd like to see on future models.

1. A camera in grille, front of car.

2. Way more feel of the road in the electric power steering...And a better on center feel (caster ?)...Hello Toyota/Subaru..can you hear me now ?

Other minor bitches: No logic to some controls. Must push down on button to unlock doors. Wiper control and it's intermittent feature works backwards from other cars I've had. Wipers don't go fast enough at fastest speed, and also not fast enough at fastest intermittent speed. Cruise control is on a stick attached to steering wheel, not logical. And stick too close to wiper control lever...easy to mistake one for the other when driving. Should be on steering wheel...all controls for Cruise. Light for cruise control when on should be in rh binnacle instead of lh. Wish there were a denser foam top of driver's door...where I rest my elbow on long trips.

All other controls are intuitive, even the manual HVAC controls...and this car defogs very quickly, front and rear.

I have absolutely no complaints about the interior look and feel.

What's best about this car ? It fits...and like no other cars I've owned. Sit in it and it just fits perfectly...that got me immediately, test driving a used one before I bought my car. I was ready to buy due to the fit, before even driving the car.

Overall it's a dynamite car till I find a good affordable used Lotus Elise...well not sure, I know the Lotus does have a poor feel to it's shifter.

Regrets: I live in a small town. Bought from the local dealership, paid the price, so it would be easy to go in for warranty work. Now with nothing needing being done, and the fact I've already had my three free oil and filter changes, expect I'll be servicing my car myself in the future. I may never go back to the dealership, maybe should have bought a used FRS and saved some bucks. These cars are just made too well...LOL.

I've had no problems on my 2015. But I feel like everytime I touch those damn ac controls they feel is cheap and they feel like in 6 years they won't be working. Anyone with a base frs feel the same way?

Other than the dreaded window squeak and rat problems (house issues; only the insulator on top of the alternator was damaged and I can replace it), I've had no problems.

It's hard getting out of the car in tight spaces, but I suppose that's a problem with small sports cars in general.

2015 FRS - 20,000km so far and zero problems.

only regret is not getting a BRZ. Really wished i had a more fancy interior. But its the exact same car so its not a deal breaker.

Base 2013 FR-S A/T at 50K miles. The last 14K miles I've been running a OpenFlash UEL header with the OFT. About maybe 10K miles I was running E85 but I'm back to petrol for the season. She has seen the track once but it's been a solid daily for the most part, it gets taken on the back roads every day so she gets to stretch her legs. I'm on my 3rd set of tires within the last 12 months. Part of that is finishing up the stock Michelins, then ran Hankook Ventus V12 during the summer and I just put on Hankook S1 nobles All-Seasons until I switch back to a summer setup. Normal maintenance has been done by me since 20K, I've alternated between Eneos Sustina oil and the Toyota oil, both have worked out just fine.

I haven't had that many issues. The three main things I've taken to the dealer for which were covered by warranty is:

1) A dirty oil control valve that caused a CEL.
2) HPFP (for crickets, It was only replaced once).
3) Oil leak from the timing chain cover.

I am fortunate to not have any transmission issues like some members are having. I do get the minor ticks and rattles but the car runs good. I get a little concern these days at the current mileage because I want to boost it. So I've been thinking about going back to stock until I decide what I will do next. Either boost and prepare a rebuild or move on.

Ratings I'd give it a 8/10, the car is really fun and stupid easy to work on. Yes it could use more power but it is what it is. It would be an 9 if the paint didn't suck monkey balls. Side note, for a small sports coupe the cargo space is quite interesting with the seats down and using the entire car. It's impressive what you can fit inside. Filling the whole thing with groceries works out no problem. I've done a set of new tires not mounted, new wheels, a small tool bag and a full size jack w/ jack stands. The car was stuffed but I made it fit.

However I have been thinking about trading her in for quite some time. I do sometimes wish I did get the M/T in the first place and when I first got the car I was about to buy a Legacy or WRX and I still want one. Especially a 16 WRX so I'm trying to make a decision by spring. I do love my FR-S though so it's like I want to run away from the platform. But go for it OP, try to get a newer one with warranty
