Traction would depend on wheelbase and mass distribution though. Having a lot of weight over the rear is more useful if there's less weight transfer to the rear with lower center of gravity or longer wheelbase.

I have yet to drive a 911 but I loved how my 44/56 MR2 handled. Rotates very fast when wheels are slipping, and the rear grips like crazy. FR cars like the twins are alright but the rear feels noticeably lighter.

Yeah, slightly front-biased FR cars like the twins and the 240sx/Silvia are biased to be predictable and easier to slide around due to having more time to correct mistakes/countersteer. Cars like the FD RX7 and S2000 are meant to be all around more agile... they rotate faster, but also give you less time to correct errors...... the farther back you go the more agile they get..... but like you said, a longer wheelbase will make them easier to control. For example, the original NSX is something like 42/58, but has a longer wheelbase than your MR2.

NSX wheelbase 99.2 inches Length 174.2
MR2 Spyder wheelbase 96.5 inches Length 153 inches

My 2ZZ Spyder is 42/58 with just me in it.

I can't think of another sporty front engined car that claims a 48/49% up front, Covettes and other Porsches may weigh in thereabouts in certain scenarios but for the most part stick to 50-50 claims.

Googling reveals some of the more high end offerings managed a rearward bias like the early Viper and LFA but that only adds fuel to the fire imo.

Non-production cars can do much better though. Supposedly Mad Mike Whiddett's 4 rotor NC Miata has significantly rear biased weight distribution... pretty awesome.

Here's robispec's article on corner balancing, 50.9/49.1 with nothing in the car, 48.5/51.5 w/ 215 lb driver, 51.2/48.8 after a bad adjustment and w/ likely low fuel and final at 49.5/50.5 w/ driver, 51.5/48.5 final empty full tank.

All a big benchracing game, I just wanted to say that while it's possible to achieve 48/52 with a front engined design, it's exceedingly rare and I could really only come up with one model that seems to resoundingly consistenly fall on rearward bias.

LFA is 48/52.

I'm sure some other cars are, because there's no shortage of supercars with the super long hoods and engines crammed far back.
