The 100+ run daily driven, 5,000 street mile RE71R's were significantly faster than my sticker new, RE71R's. And still very noticeably faster as the runs increased on both tires. 120 run tires were faster than 40 run tires for me at nationals. Old tires are still on the car, I drive when it's not snowing/wet and over 28 degrees F, they are essentially completely bald. I'll be trying this same experiment with old tires vs new again at some season next year. No reason to not drive the RE71R's on the street.

Fits with what I've heard from others that they got grippier as run count increased until they had to go.

Unless it rains and you have no tread. Then you perish.

My RE-11's feel the same way. They're down to like 3/32" and they're only getting faster. I may even run them for the first half of 2016...

I daily my RE71R's as well and they are just fine even in the rain. Just leave the traction control on.

This. I can pull half a G through a turn in a downpour at 50mph in 4th gear before they start to break loose. They're just fine in the rain if you keep TC on.
