I hope they sell a body-in-white with the SF-R. Would make great race car series and it'd be great to start with a car where I don't spend 10k on crap I'm going to throw in a dumpster so I can weld a cage in there.

The base model in the USA (and Canada) has an open differential and less aggressive suspension tuning which would give up some performance for $24k USD and $32k CAD.
The base model is a better buy if you are going to add an LSD and coilovers.

I want to see some pro reviews online of THAT Miata. Not the still very soft clubsport.

Hah probably when they review an 86 with an LSD and coilovers, 3 years after release and a couple of tire tests is all we've got.

Hahaha if I didn't live in SF, I'm pretty sure I would have a stripped out old Miata racecar by now.

when i saw the original concept of this car, I was like "nah, it's too ugly." however the more i see it and this racing concept makes me change my mind. I'm actually pretty interested in this little thing now.

When I saw the original concept it reminded me of this:

Also don't think it'll come to North America since people here think the Twins are already too slow. Most likely Calty is going to give us a new Supra / Soarer instead.

BTW is 50/50 even a Toyota thing? Usually they do 53/47 like the Twins, Aristo, Supra, etc.

Welp, I guess that's it.

It's expected to be a quiet show for Toyota. The S-FR, a tiny rwd coupe shown in October at the Tokyo Motor Show, won't be coming to the U.S. and therefore won't be in Detroit. Toyota's press conference on the second day of the show, squeezed between suppliers' press events, will feature news about its infotainment offerings.

I'm thinking even if it wasn't a huge seller the U.S. market is too big to ignore.

This is just conjecture on my part.

It's mainly a BMW marketing thing with no relevance to reality.

I am with you. These clickbaits can't get it right when they say something is going to happen so can not be taken seriously when they say it isn't either.
