Joakim3's SAAB restora-build

As some of you know I was in the market for picking up a black BRZ limited late last year and then this happened

Got into a fight with a concrete curb on the way back from school, and damn near ripped the front end clean off (zip ties do wonders). A lot of tears and a two months hunting for a replacement bumper/headlight assembly... all my saved BRZ down payment pennies and ambitions went out the window

Come 2016.. new mindset, new me etc.. etc.. etc.. While I will get a BRZ at some point in the future... I've decided in the meantime, why not do a restore-build on old bessy.

11 years young, 167k on the odometer & still pulls like a freight train on the highway.... but man could she use some good old loving right about now.

So you guys (and gals) are more then welcome to follow our little saab story and hope to see you on the other side!!

Should have just left the damage (looks like it still drove fine) and continued to save for a BRZ. Just my $0.02

It was drivable in the sense that I could have drove it back to my house 5 miles away. It completely ripped the lower engine/radiator cover off, all the washer fluid hoses, broke the headlight housing and twisted the lower subframe

That and other outside finical issues arouse

The cars long been paid off, I just got my foot on solid ground again. Might as well make the most of what I got.

I would just get the saab into a sellable state and use that money and the money you have saved up to buy a used '15. Unless you're really set on buying new.

I'm going into the navy so don't feel like paying for a car that I can't even enjoy on a day to day bases (I'll be on a ship duty)

I'll probably grab one when/if I get stationed on a physical base

Ouch. That's one of the few years the 9-5 Aero looked great. Manual or Auto? Any special goods from Genuine Saab like there 3 inch downpipe or a tune from maptun, nordic, or from the self tuning trionic suites.

I had a stage 3 viggen clone.

Good luck in the Navy.

Over the course of 3 months to get into a drivable-not have a cop pull me over every second state.... Somewhere in the ball park of ~2k, once you include labor & all the parts

I still haven't gotten around to painting the new front bumper which is another 300$ lol

Totally agree... the +06's looked sooooooo vial compared to the 04-05's. That being said... The body parts for them are just impossible to find as ~3400 were produced between the two years -.-

Auto slush box, it's currently having transmission issues

Special Saab goodies are in the pipe line, I just bought a quad tips (NONE rice) for a custom rear muffler delete. I'm still debating on weather or not to tune it due to the Autobox, but If I do so I'll probably get to 300 whp and call it a day haha

Nice!!! Must have bee a hoot to drive... My pops owns a genuine 9-3 Viggen, 00' 4-Door Black, torque steer for days haha

First order of business

Bought myself a 15" x 47" custom honeycomb grill mesh (I hateee the OEM grill inserts), as well as carbon fiber styled front & rear emblems
