Boot (trunk) light tilt switch

On three occasions I have had the key fob in my pocket and when sitting or moving around, the boot (trunk) button has got pressed and I have not known about it.

The light comes on in the boot and if the car is not used for a couple of days, the battery goes flat.

To solve this problem I installed a tilt switch so if this happens now (and it has) the light won't come on unless you lift the boot lid at least 6"

Yay! No flat battery.

Uploading lots of text and photo's one by one to this forum is a pain, so I have attached a pdf of the DIY which was much easier to produce.

I have also replaced the bulb with an high brightness LED version, so it draws less current anyway. I recommend this to everyone even if you don't fit the tilt switch.

I think its crazy that the light is not on a timer. My wife's Volvo will shut it off automatically after a few minutes. I haven't had your issue, but I could see it being a problem.

Another thing you could do is change that bulb to an LED. You'll have more light and less current draw to kill the battery. The clean white light is nice too.
