So, when you're in 3rd gear and moving and apply then let off the gas, do you see the shift lever moving .... ??

If so, the motor mounts (and/or transmission mount) may be lose or broken.....

Have they checked/replaced the motor mounts .... ??

Tbh Ultramaroon i don't think i could capture it as it's not all the time and only on certain patches of road. Now the rear parcel shelf has started buzzing again and the dealer thought they had just fixed it lol

Now Humfrz i do noticed the shifter vibrate sometimes which i did thought was strange on a modern car. When i change into 3rd and move the lever it's as if it wobbles bit left and right before moving into place if that makes sense..and doesn't move into place in one clean movement like you'd expect it to and have felt on previous MT cars. So maybe the trans mounts are bad. I know some people on here have had the newer shifter part and also on our uk forum (gt86ownersclub).

The dealer never mentioned anything being loose though but the car is booked in for Monday so will mention these all again to them. I know last time i was in they were trying to fob me off by saying rattles shouldn't really be covered now due to only having 18 months of the warranty left. It's a bit of a joke really and sorry to have a moan but when you've come from bimmers etc you really can see the quality difference in the products. I know german cars have their issues too but still...

My mother used to have a UK spec TT MKIV Supra with 326bhp as standard and the build quality on that was superb..built like a tank! i know that was a dearer car but i didn't expect this many issues on a newish Japanese car..

While you're waiting at the dealership for them to evaluate/fix your car, I suggest you ask them if you could take a test drive in another car like yours, on some bumpy roads, to see if it exhibits the same aberrations.

This is a very good idea!
From Ras' last post I am beginning to suspect that what many of us call "normal" seems wrong to him.
These cars are a relatively raw, quasi sportscar not a luxury sedan and I can understand how some of the little quirks could be perceived as something wrong if you were not expecting them.
This is not a slam or an insult there Ras. Many people here have expressed concerns when all it was is the nature of the car.

Some dealers treat it as warranty and some don't so there isn't even a formal recognition form Toyota at this point. If you suspect it is starting to go then get it fixed ASAP because if you leave it and have a catastrophic failure it can take out a pile of other more costly parts with it.
my guess is the factory that build them has shitty QA and so a lot of them are put on the cars with factory defects or weaknesses that only become apparent a few months down the road.

God this car rattles inside I've now noticed over rough roads a vibration coming from the passenger side, I thought my GF had left something in the bottle holder or something in glove but nothing..argh!! driving me mad.

On a side note, when I go to 3rd gear, is it normal for the stick to move left and right a bit or would you say that could be a bit of free play?
If you're ever in Canada near Ottawa hit me up, I'll show you rattle lol (seriously though all my mounts are solid mounts, car lowered at around 2.5k-3k rpm the vibration is enough to send a girl into an orgasm methinks)

Thanks guys for all your advice, I prefer this forum to my own

I think driving another is the best bet but i'm at work whilst its going in so will have to test the demo they have on a weekend.. Who knows they migh all have the things I think are wrong..

Today whilst crawling at 30mph I noticed a vibration felt through the clutch pedal as I gently touched it. Is that the possible TOB issue but then again I thought that was only when not in gear

Sounds like the TOB growling. It's supposed to have some self-centering feature that may not always work. I can feel mine sometimes but it never makes any noise.

It's going to be a mystery to me until I man up and dig in there. I'll take pics & start a thread eventually.

Right i see! well my dealer thinks its the TOB..I do think though i've got 2 issues then, 1 being the TOB and 2 gearbox or something else loose as this evening going around 40mph..hit a big bump in the road and could hear/feel like something was loose down there. I'm def going to ask to test the giallo they have
