I've admitted that I overreached saying that a 265 whp twin would destroy a GT. While it would be close to on par with it, it would still be lacking the torque necessary and a 300 whp twin would be much closer.

I also admit that I was a little harsh with the way I stated that weight reduction in a GT just isn't really feasible to make a huge difference in comparing weight between a twin and a Mustang.

Ok, can we just move on now.

Lol, your jimmies rustle quite easily. So much shit? I provided a lot of facts..... in a well stated manner and tried to be respectful. It isn't even stuff that can be debated.

I read a thread where you say with 280 hp and some suspension this car can be a supercar. Now.... that is an opinion. This is the first thread I think we have interacted in. I like the debate, always.... but you don't debate. You have an opinion, have facts thrown at you, and hurl insults.

The 370z forum is really slow and chock full of adds. This forum is a lot more active. I joined this forum when was I cross-shopping the twins.

I feel like I have a healthy appreciation for the twins. I stay here because I like the car and wish I had one. I don't wish I have one over my 370z for various reasons, but I wish I could have one. I'm not happy with the weight of the 370z, or the viscous LSD, or the ridiculously expensive tires, or the mileage, but i have my own values and ended up with a car I love.

What I don't understand is why you and a lot of people on this forum think the twins are some magical race car that is the best-est at everything. It is what it is. It is a fun car. The whole point of the car was to go against this recent obsession with track times, since the best way to get track times with low cost is bigger engine and bigger tires. Look at what is dominating track times for $$, the v8 and i4 turbo mustangs and camaros. the 370z is pretty good for it's price too. Tada was right in that that is the best way to get track times, but it's not very fun. So he wanted to build a car that was based more on driver feel than speed. That's why all the pro drivers love the car when they drive it, and are surprised at the slow times.

The twins were designed to be fun, get good mileage, and be affordable. I think it does all that very well. (the tires make me sooo jealous. I wish i could use 16" enkis on my car. the tires are sooooo much cheaper).

I wish everyone would stop persevering over what car is faster. If you go to the track it's pretty meaningless until you get into tt groups. If you have a more thorough appreciation for your car I don't think you would feel the need to talk down on every other sports car ever and can enjoy talking about all cars.

edit: and just to rustle your jimmies, if you want to talk about top end no-expenses barred stupid not-even-really-cars anymore racing, want to see the 2015 WTAC car that won the clubsprint class? that was 3 seconds faster than the fastest fr-s? You should be extolling the virtues of this car instead of the twins:

I absolutely enjoy other cars and regret selling my mustang gt. the trans went bad and I ended up letting it go after having my knee surgery and watching it sit there for 18months and not being able to fix it myself because of my knee.

It wouldn't even be close the level of performance per dollar I got out of my mustang to my frs...

But the mustang wasn't a new car. For that matter, it wouldn't even be close the performance per dollar that I got out of my 66 mustang to my 95 gt.

To say I don't appreciate other cars is patently absurd. Because I defend the twin's ability to perform as a newer car doesn't mean I don't appreciate other cars.

All cars can be turned into extremely fast cars. Those who can do it themselves will be able to do it for less than those who have to pay someone else to do it.

When someone says I can't make the frs faster than a stock whatever for less money, that IS telling me what I can and can't do and when I KNOW that's not the case, I'm going to speak up and say it.

For my ultimate eventual goals, there isn't a better car than the frs, that's why I went with it.

I knew it was slower and less powerful stock...that's ALSO one of the reasons that I went with it. The challenge of making it faster...

Nothing irks me more than the people who say "that's not what the car was made for, it won't do this or it won't do that no matter what you do" and when someone says those things and I know it's not true, I'm GOING to speak up.

I admit that I can be a bit abrasive when I do that and I will try and work on that.

but anyway, the mustang is fast but doesn't feel fast because of the weight. They handle very well now.
the 86's aren't very fast stock but put some money into some forced induction and you have quite the peppy car.
370's are gorgeous and im a big fan of v6's, however they do weigh more and i've never driven one so ill stop there.
all great cars in different ways.

If I had to choose all over again I would choose the 86 10 times in a row. I never understood needing 300+ horsepower if all one does is drive 99% of the time on public roads. If I was into racing I would still want something small, light and nimble to boot. I owned a 06 G35S which was 3560 lbs and I hated that thing so much primarily because it felt like a BIG, torque-y, 2 door sedan. Only thing nice was the torque and the luxury level cushyness which I thought I would miss.
