anyone jump ship to a 2015+ Mustang GT?

To be perfectly honest, I am getting really tired of the lack of power this car has. Queue the fan boys (I do love this car though)...

I live in flat land florida, not tons of twists, and I use my car as a DD doing sales calls. I mostly drive the highway, the car feels small, I'm 6'1 and I get a bit cramped sometimes, and the lack of power makes me have to work very hard to pass people when I need to without constantly thinking about if I have enough space.

I love the new mustangs, but feel like I am in love with the for the V8 sound and immediate torque.

My thoughts are either turbo/supercharge the FR-S, or trade in the the mustang. Anyone done the same thing as I am thinking? Thoughts?

Why don't you? In my opinion, I honestly think the new Mustang is the best one of the modern Mustangs. You will not nearly make as enough power as the Mustang GT already can, stock, without spending some serious cash and even then, it's a ticking time bomb with the FA20.

I went with my FR-S because I liked the car over everything else. But I can't deny that the new Mustang is awesome.

I have also been thinking of the mustang gt, even considered the ecoboost as MAPerformance has designed a badass kit for it. I don't track my FRS and it's just a DD with only a catted JDL UEL and OFT Stg 2 tune and even though the power is adequate for street, it's still lacking if/when it comes time to go WOT at times. But considering fuel economy and monthly payments, I'm just going to stick to my FRS and eventually do a built motor and supercharge her, or if I'm ballsy possibly do a twin charge setup down the road to satisfy the power hunger.

Turbo, or trade it in. There are good turbo kits out there and we do have a lot of tuners. PTuning is up north for you.

It sounds like the Mustang is more suited towards your needs since you don't have twisty backroads and are mostly on the highway. The twins can feel cramped at times, are underpowered when compared to the V8 mustangs. If you don't plan on going to the track and are more after straight line speed. I would go with the Mustang.

just keep in mind that even a base model non premium gt will run you about 30 without even one option ticked on the box and to be honest, the base wheels and setup on a mustang make it look dowdy. to go even an ecoboost set up nicely will cost significantly more than your twin.

Give T3 Performance a call.

Just to get this straight, you do a lot of driving in your car, and you want to trade something that easily gets 30+ mpg for something rated at 25 mpg?

You do you, I suggest you go for a test drive and see what it's all about. For some the power is a lightbulb, for others the weight the steering the gearbox the package as a whole is a let down. At least it was for me, reminded me of a truck and not a little racer, maybe the new ones are leaps and bounds better, idk, but you should really go find out for yourself instead of asking internet folks.

Good luck

My uncle just picked up a new V6 mustang and although it's not for me, it's a nice car. Not everyone appreciate/understands what the twins are. It really can be love/hate. At the end of the day, you're paying for the car so why not get what makes you happy. Like Strat suggests, go out there and experience it for yourself. We aren't fronting the bill, nor do we know what tickles your fancy when it comes to cars. Good luck either way.

Why not the new Bimmer with the N54/5? I mean you are in sales, and what says successful salesperson like a bavarian motor werks product? CPO bmw prob cost as much as V8 recaro package 'stang and you get an interior in a class of its own.

For me, I would not get a Mustang or Camaro that is not a V8. And this is coming from somebody who loves turbo 4 bangers, but I drove an Ecoboost Mustang and, while it is a nice car, it just felt very meh. It's not slow, but not really that fast and I bet you will be always kicking yourself for not getting the V8. That said not sure how loud the new 15 GT is inside the cabin while you are trying to make sales calls. I would also look into the new Camaro as well but don't know your budget. Golf GTI w/PP or Golf R might be a good option too, Audi level interior and is very quick but does not feel like your driving a boat.

As in boat? ;)

TBH the new Camaro seems to beat the Mustang in terms of performance and handling (again). But I do prefer the Mustang's looks.

my commute is all highway too. But i just set the cruise to 90 and enjoy my 28mpg while listening to a podcast or something.

i'd go with a used 335 or M3/c63 before a new mustang
