I found an iphone app to measure belt tension like the Gates Carbon Drive app. Its called Tension2Go. I'm not sure how everyone is using the Gates app but I have been holding my phone mic 1 inch under the longest part of the belt, about where the belt runs behind the front plate. I am measuring 65 Hz. I can twist the belt 90 degrees as a second test. Does this sound right?

Hey guys it's been bothering me for a while...but is it OK if the engine bay with the Kraftwerks bits (pulleys etc) get absolutely soaked?

I've got a vented bonnet and despite my carefulness, it does get parked outside and rained on inevitably

It isn't ideal for sure to keep getting those parts wet. If I were you, get a car cover, or cut out a chunk of cardboard, wrap a trashbag over the cardboard, staple it really tight and slide that over your engine bay covering your sc when you park (making sure the motor is completely cool!).

You wouldn't want anything rusting up with your kw. Some water once in a while isn't detrimental, but it sounds like your car is always outside, and you have a vented hood, and garage parking isn't an option for you.

Also, maybe make a laminated note that's a reminder you have the kwsc cover under your hood, and put that in front of your gauges or on the seat. Every time you get in the car, you'll have a reminder right there in front of you, before you crank your motor - to remove your kwsc cover.

Just bought a used KW SC with a C38 blower here in Peru. Haven't installed yet. Not sure about compatibility with my current NA setup (which Makes 160 whp vs 136 whp stock on a heartbreaker Mustang dyno). Pretty sure I'll have to get rid of my Perrin 3" BigMAF intake, but not sure about the Perrin Oil Cooler or the Tomei UEL catless header. Rest of exhaust should stay on, I guess...a Perrin overpipe, HKS catless resonated front pipe and a Perrin resonated catback.

Any help appreciated. I've read and searched for hours but no luck yet, so sorry if this has already been discussed.

I have zero experience with FI.

Also, have most C38 owners upgraded injectors and pump? While appatently not necessary for pump gas (98 octane here), is it better?

The Tomei UEL will fit, the Perrin oil cooler may not and the Perrin intake will not fit.

Most C38 owners have upgraded fuel injectors and in-tank fuel pump.... They've also broken rods and punched a window in their block. So I would build the engine. Forged rods, and lower comp Pistons to negate knock if you get a bad batch of gas. The C38 is no slouch and I wouldn't half ass the build.

I have a c38. stock motor. I do have supporting mods though. I have tomei UEL header, tomei over pipe, invidia n1 catback. I'd definitely recommend bigger injectors. I have the dw700cc and also a fuel pump too, I'm using a dw65c.

I'm also running flex fuel too. It's nice to run ethanol for better cooling so it's less prone to knock.

The main reason why you definitely want to get bigger injectors and a higher flowing pump is because imagine you are driving and you run into boost. and then all of a sudden, the duty cycle is so high on the fuel pump, your fuel pump immediately fails. Once that happens BOOM. engine is popped.

running with 93 on stock pump and injectors is cool, I did that for awhile, but I don't recommend it for doing it long term. I track my car and have numerous sessions under my belt and I'd say it's holding up quite well. Stock clutch is finally starting to slip but that's about the only problems.

Strange - knock on wood I haven't had a single belt break and that includes multiple track visits. It's got to be tension related and I agree it's a pain to get it right on this system. What methods have you tried?

The cellphone Gates app, not sure of any other methods other than keeping it tightened... just not having any luck. Considering selling the kit and going turbo

Another method to test belt tension is to twist it in the center of the longest section. If you can't twist it 90 degrees it's too tight. If it twists more than 90 degrees tighten it up a bit.
