Actually everything I'm working on right now is carb legal... motor swap was what I was originally intending on doing, which is carb legal...

The other project I'm working on will eventually be carb legal...

I am a big Toyota fan and have always admired the several performance cars in Toyota history: Supra, MR2, 2000GT, LFA, etc. For that reason, I chose my FR-S over the higher-spec BRZ and even any other sports car and I have no intention of ever letting it go. However, I know that the FR-S is not the best performance car out there and I accept that.

Get this through your head: the twins are, objectively speaking, NOT the best cars in the world. They can and will be beaten by cars well above its price range, and no amount of money you throw at it will change that.

They are, however, fun cars to drive and mod, which is another reason why you, I, as well as several others, chose this car.

Which is why I said that BEFORE I made that post that you quoted I had other plans due to where I live. The plans that I relayed in that post you quoted were after I decided to move my business to another state and move there myself where CARB doesn't exist.

a twin charged built motor was NEVER in my plans while living in Commufornia.

I was planning on a post 13 LS swap and eforce supercharger and having it reffed in cali. As the wrinkles with canbus etc get worked out, I may go back to that plan or I may get an additional wrecked or stripped twin and do that with it.

However, since my intentions are to move out of state now, it opens up possibilities and I would love to do a built, slightly lower compression FA20 with compounded boost.

because it's better? no, because I can and I think it would be fun and unique...

I know exactly what it takes to make these cars fast. I also know my limitations and what I am capable of doing.

I'm not even planning on this being my fastest straight line car.

I'm building a 2JZ swapped toyota long bed pickup dually with dual drag radials for that.

I switched to the Mustang, but in the ideal world I would have both. I still smile whenever I see a twin on the road.

Guess I'll have to sell it now that I know that a supercharged BRZ would destroy me..

OP, still want a Mustang??

That was quite an entertaining read! lol

Someone is always going to be faster than you. On stock trans, clutch and engine internals most will agree 240-270WHP is where you should keep your reliability (albeit its still too early to tell). Anything north of 300WHP seems to be asking for trouble.

If you wanna be faster (reliably), build the engine. However it's gonna cost you more than the price difference from an 86 to a GT. I personally plan on keeping this car for a while as there is really nothing thats lightweight & RWD thats coming out any time soon.

Beautiful stang I wanted one but didn't want the huge payments and didn't want to drive a near 450hp car as a daily, well not a heavey straight line car anyway. I loved mine I had a blast driving it but it was a gas guzzler and not a driving machine like my little FRS. I love driving my FRS

If I had to say the thing I miss the most, which sounds ridiculous, would be parking the damn car haha. I miss being able to just dart into parking spaces. If I didn't live like 5 miles from work, I would never have picked the gt. I couldn't live with a (what I get) 20mpg tank average. I was getting about 26 with the brz all city before e85, and over 30 when I did 90% highway. I don't think you can beat an 86 as an affordable livable daily sports car that you can enjoy whenever.

And if you get it professionally installed (the Full Blown kit) it is a lot more than that. I know this because Full Blown is very close to my house and I talked to them about my BRZ and what it would cost to get their kit installed by them and I was told to plan on $10-12K depending on some choices I made along the way. My BRZ was $28K. That would have put me near or over $40K. For a BRZ.

People gloss over costs to mod on this forum all the time and they also gloss over things like maintenance, reliability, throwing out your warranty, etc. And it's not just here. It is a lot of car forums where people start tuning their cars. There is a reason why so many people that start down the tuning path only keep their cars 1-2 years and then dump them. Because you tend to only hear all the rah, rah, bullshit about how great their tuned car is and not all the crap you sometimes have to put up with. Once you start heavily tuning a car you basically better have a backup mode of transportation.

If you buy a car like a Mustang GT that has the power and performance out of the box it removes most of the headaches of tuning and you can actually enjoy your car more.

And I have nothing against tuning, but people often sugarcoat it way too much. Before people go down the tuning path with the FR-S/BRZ that are new to tuning they should watch Savagegeese's videos on Youtube and his experiences with his FR-S. Love him or hate him the guy is knowledgeable and a straight shooter and did not BS and sugarcoat the tuning experience.
