From tire rack-
In 2009, Sparco and O.Z. Racing announced their partnership resulting in an exclusive collection of wheels featuring both companies' Italian design heritage and motorsports background, as well as their commitment to using the highest quality materials and O.E.M construction technologies. O.Z.'s licensed Sparco wheels are TÜV certified and tested using the LBF biaxial test. This rigorous testing procedure runs each wheel through a 15,000 km stress test simulating the driving conditions of the Nürburgring circuit to ensure quality and safety are built into every Sparco wheel.

Kosei K6R
17x9 +42

They're a tad over 18lbs weighing in at 18.8lbs a piece. Tirerack has'em on closeout right now for $169 a rim! Regular $209 a piece. Good looking wheel too and strong.

Although about a pound a half heavier than the Enkeis, the RE02s are great wheels for the price. $400 for wheels? With tires you're OTD for a set of just rims.

For reference, 17x9 + 35 on DWS06 255/40s lowered about 2 inches. http://imgur.com/a/XX2Nf

Ambit lied about being VIA / JWL registered. They will soon be pulling down those claims, and removing the casting marks from their wheels. I have over 30 emails from an Ambit Rep, concluding in admission that the wheels are actually not registered. Additionally, I have access to the VIA Wheel Database, and nothing from Ambit nor their manufacturer is registered. Be safe out there....

Thank you for the information.
Are the wheels you purchased stamped jwl or via? Boxes etc too?

Wheels are stamped JWL and VIA, on each side of the valvestem hole. They also made the claim on their website. Supposedly they are removing both.

Is this usually the implications of non JWL/PIA certified wheels and replicas?

Well, I can't say whether or not the wheel will break, and under what condition. My biggest concern is that these guys knowingly marketed JWL/VIA certification, and also have cast it into the wheel.

All VIA registered wheels are in a VIA wheel database, here: http://www.jwtc.jp/open/html/e/index.html

I currently have access to that, and Ambit, nor their manufacturer have wheels listed there. Ambit's manufacturer is Zhejiang Powcan Wheel Manufacture. Now, Powcan does have JWL certified test equipment in-house, BUT, that's not how it works. In order to claim VIA/JWL for a specific wheel or to put the JWL/VIA casting mark on a wheel, the wheel must be tested, the report must be sent to the VIA, and then the manufacturer must register each wheel, in each size, in each offset with the VIA....

The wheels listed here are really good bang for the buck. Enkei and Kosei are pretty light and affordable. Just remember if you want to save weight also consider the weight of the tire. Some tires are considerably more heavy than others. Good tires in this wheel size can cost as much or near the price of the rim

So I purchased the RE02's on Friday last week without having seen this thread. My order was already proving difficult and they still have not been shipped, though i'm told they should go out tomorrow. My intentions are to track this wheel; and saw price, looks, and JWL registered and said why the hell not.

Should I just give in, find a way to cancel the order, and get some RPF1's? They can't charge me a restock fee if they weren't sure if they were in stock for a few days and still haven't left the warehouse.... i assume?

Where exactly did you see the mention of the JWL registered? Please let us know exactly where.
You are better off calling them straight in the morning and get it sorted out. They will try to resist, but just mention the JWL faking you out and it should be no problem.

Also take note that there are versions(not sure if newer) that don't have the JWL/VIA stamps.

Its on the main Ambitwheels.com website, not the separate dealer ad I believe. I don't really give a shit about the replica haters if I can track them without fear of them exploding on me

Edit: ambit website says passes jwl/VIA tests, not "registered". Less basis, outside the whole cancelled and reinitiation of order issue
