What's your opinion on the Edelbrock SC vs JRSC? Which setup do you like more? Is one better than the other? If you were to choose, which would you buy and why? What's your opinion on roots vs rotrex?

The 100k mile service can be performed by the customer. Its as simple as removing the top section of the supercharger assembly. Draining the oil from the fill hole on the rear and refilling with the correct oil. It does not have to be serviced by Edelbrock. |

Sounds to me like there will be no new additional maintenance, just a bit more of the routine maintenance one should already be doing. If so that's great, this would be my first major mod and knowing it's truly just drop and go pretty excited.

Just a quick review since I haven't said much since getting the kit. I took my car to what I thought was a pretty good hard canyon run/hill climb with lots of prolonged pulls (with a family, I'm no longer able to go to the track, so morning canyon drives will have to do). Throttle response was excellent. Engine oil temps peaked at 235 F as I climbed the hill (Mt Hamilton in San Jose CA) IAT temps stayed at around 60 F (45-50 F ambient). Having additional torque allowed me to stay in gear and focus on my throttle control, braking and steering. On the downside, my heel and toe technique will probably suffer even more due to lack of practice There is now some rear end control with the throttle (understeering? Give it a little bit more gas!). @shiumai i did a handful of 2nd and 3rd gear redline pulls and did not hear the rasp discussed earlier in this thread. The only weird thing I noticed was some rattling from the shifter (clutch? trans?) when coasting at higher rpms (~4-6k rpm).Overall, Edelbrock did an excellent job, very happy with this product! Now when can we expect a Russell oil cooler for the track folks?

In the quest to pinch more pennies, would I be able to rent an Ecutek hardware kit from say motoeast (or does @CounterSpace Garage offer rental kits too?) for $70 ($350 up front, $270 refunded on return), buy an Ecutek license (which is needed) for $350 and then download the CARB tune for free, this would end up being $5070 total ($4650 kit, $70 Ecutek hardware, $350 Ecutek license, $0 CARB tune).
I'd save $330 instead of getting the CARB kit for $5400. Unless I need to get the CARB kit to get the CARB sticker, which now sounds obvious... |

I agree... And it's a huge reason I'm keen on this particular kit too!

Is this noise normal?
EDIT: This sounds exactly like @shiumai's / @tracerit's noise. Seems this is cam timing doing it's thing so I'm cool and done.
EDIT #2: I reproduced the same pulsating sound in my 6-speed Suzuki SX4 under the same input conditions, just not as pronounced. I've concluded it's the increased mass of air/exhaust combined with the lightweight flywheel winding down faster that amplify the pulsation that's always been there. And there's the signature rumble that can come out on modded boxer engines. Just got the kit installed this week and been familiarizing myself with the new sounds. Audible intake turbulence is most apparent when mashing the throttle after every upshift. On top of that, I hear these other noises. Wondering if other owners also get the following noises that I'd attribute to the massive intake's new NVH harmonics or if it's just my car. Note: You need headphones or good quality speakers to hear these subtle noises. Timestamp 0:00 to 0:01 Decelerating in 5th gear, not applying throttle nor brakes. There is a reverberation. This pulsating occasionally happens when I let off throttle in any gear. Is that a harmonic induced by the intake? Timestamp 0:03 to 0:05 Starting at 0:03 I apply 2/3 throttle and hold it there. Starting at 0:04 noise amplifies then cuts out at 0:05 though I have held throttle constant at 2/3 the whole time. Near the end of the video I let off the throttle and you can hear the pulsating again. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXKCpfN0ZxQ"]Noise - YouTube[/ame] Other mods just installed with the kit: 3-pluck clutch lightweight flywheel thicker rear axles And I've always had a Greddy axle back prior but not this noise.
