Hi all. Just wanted to share something weird I found out over Christmas break. I started installing KW V3 on the the front. I ran out of time and the next day my back was feeling sore so I decided to put off the rear for the next day. When i drove the FRS with the KW (up front) in completely stock settings (I believe the KW by default is set to most firm + I raised the KW a few threads up) + Stock suspension in the rear I could not believe how butter smooth the ride was. I'd say it's smoother than the ride quality of most family sedans. I drove on some bumpy, twisty two lane roads and it definitely improved control and speed over them. It felt like the frs was floating over them rather than crashing over them. I know what the feeling of that's like because with lowered springs it violently crashes over this same stretch of road. That upsets the flow of driving and you have to back off the throttle early in anticipation of the rear wheels lifting off the road when combined with a turn in.
The other thing that happened was that steering felt lighter and easier. That was just my impressions from a day and a half of driving over pretty poorly maintained roads. I was literally smiling while driving over them because of the improvement in ride quality. The only drawback is of course the ugly wheel gap in the rear. But if you want a smooth daily driver I don't this setup can be beat. I finished installing the KWs in the rear and even after adjusting the bump (bottom) to the softest settings it's noticeably stiffer (with more wheel hop) than the KW Front + Stock rear setup. |
