Really saying "it was only a 5MPH collision" means nothing.
It is all about the energy of the collision and how the energy was absorbed.

Example - what would cause more damage:
FRS rolling at 5 MPH and hits a smart car
FRS rolling at 5 MPH and hits a brick wall
FRS stationary and a loaded dump truck hits FRS moving at 5 MPH

Physics and me have a good relationship, I'm just having trouble believing anything less than an abrams tank caused that @ 5mph

Maybe the seatbelt buckle got slammed in there a few times by the door, could have been in a promiscuous relationship with a curb....

Either way I see corporate saying it was damaged and therefor doesn't fall under the corrosion perforation warranty

When I do bodywork, it is all about looking at the reflections.
You have waves in the paint that are damage, or previous body work, or what ever is being reflected in the paint is not straight....
Late to the party but I'm with you, Stu.

First thing that came to mind was "That's not rust. It's a stress fracture."
