Thing is this is brought up weekly by forum newbies, people with a few post going oh look I found the new turbo jet engine, awd, limited special sti edition, azorora jesus camping brz that will be released in 20xx(insert any number) and have over 9000hp.


That is why some members get real annoyed real fast with these types of thread, we have seen hundreds of them (and no sadly I'm not exaggerating)

Friends who drive the car - "It needs more power!!"

Which lead to people writing rumor articles, newbies fall for the clickbaits and link it to others.

They wouldn't because it wouldn't be a sub 30k car anymore, it would be above 40k car and at that pricetag a lot of people who own one would have either, not been able to afford it (it is aimed at the young crowd after all) or would have chosen something else. At least that is my opinion, most people just like to talk shit and make themselves look cool/important. I'd buy one if it had more power (you can't even afford one now joe stfu; you can't even handle the power it currently has; you own a 2002 civic and you think it's fast please just go away bob) I've generalized but a lot of people just like the sound of their own voices and know nothing of the car yet feel like their opinion based on nothing should be seen as the definitive truth (this is not aimed at anyone in particular, just what I have noticed from the it needs more power crowd that has never owned or ridden in a twin)

Not the fastest out there no but certainly not "slow". You want a pedal masher you buy a pedal masher.
The "more power bro" crowd may be a vocal minority but that does not mean they will sell more. The local dealership sales manager was telling me they can't sell the things because so many people test drive it and complain that it is too powerful and scares them. Not everybody that looks at buying them grew up on F&F, Initial D and video games and therefore think it is "slow".

IDK, you have people like me who was salivating at the car when it first dropped and went and test drove the first manual one I saw and walked away from it. It wasn't impressive on a test drive. I think they could put more HP in to the car from the factory. The car needs it. The price is already well above what they were aiming for originally and it just keeps getting higher with all the features (some required) that keep getting added in to the package.

Its a slow car. At anything but a corner or windy road this thing is a lazy dog when it is stock. Lets be real. As far as selling it, that's an opinion. I returned the keys from my first test drive and said it was too slow. So, all a matter of opinion there.

The thing is, Toyota made different brands in the US because of things like this. The Scion brand is aimed for the younger crowds, in this case they knew the FR-S would be modded so that's why it's a "blank canvas". I've heard over in japan they offer different packages as well such as the basic of basics with no A/C, windows or painted doors because they know people want it to modify it to race/drift.
