Not with The electronic variable valve timing

so no downsides to daily street use at all? what would be the reasoning for anyone going with the fast road or ultimate road as opposed to the race cam?

The race cam lift will give you more pumping loses which is bad for fuel economy.

Only downside is valve to piston clearance. The longer they are open more chance of interference. Stock pistons probably wont work on every cam. Even HKS says you can not use their cam with stock pistons, they say you should buy the high capacity kit.

But don't we have chains instead of belts for timing? Maybe a noob like me can't think of interference screwing up something else (please elaborate)

Not that interference problem. Interference as in piston hitting valve during normal operation, necessitating a different piston design with more clearance. New pistons = more cash.

Other issues include losing much/most of your VVT adjustability range due to the same issue, again necessitating new pistons.

There will be a steep learning curve with VVT and those cams, but I'm glad someone is bringing an "affordable" cam option to market. Also with a cam upgrade there can be more progress made in the FI arena as well, suiting cams to your power adder since they say custom grinds are available. The base minimum for those cams are bigger than stock so you would have to lose a portion of idle quality and general drivability but with tuning obviously that can be controlled to an extent.

Now I know we have custom piston options for Piston to valve clearance, but do we many options for better valves, retainers and valve springs to take advantage of those cams?

Making power NA is always so much more expensive, but much more satisfying.

Serious question, has anyone tuned with bigger camshafts in the FA20 yet? I did some google work and didn't find anything. The custom cam profiles caveat is interesting.

Piper has Springs and retainers as well as a few other companies. the problem area is coil bind if the springs do not support the larger lobe as well.

High RPM is going to need a higher spring pressure as well for High RPM and valve float.

Someone on my FB build page commented they had the 272's @Tim Radley has the street cams.

No one has released any gain numbers though.

You should take that manifold and make a 4 barrel carb adapter.
