Have you guys tried using blue Loctite (242)?
It kinda made for this situation. Non-permanent threadlocker will stop the top nut from loosening... but just a drop or two (so it doesn't get into the pillowball bearing). I wouldn't use this for the locking collars/rings, though. The should have plenty of bite, when jammed properly.
