Of course you'll want to change your brake fluid and put new, more aggressive, pads on the car before the track day. Other than that, there's nothing you need to do before tracking. Although there are certainly some things you could do that wouldn't make a big difference. Axleback or catback exhaust won't change performance much at all, just sound. I'd hold off on the header to see if you really need the extra power. The car is already plenty quick around the track, but obviously a little lacking in the straights. Even then, if you keep the car in the top range of the revs, like it's meant to be driven, there's plenty of power available.

The money you'd spend on a header and tune would be much better spent on some quality, properly sized, wheels and good rubber. But I still think it's helpful to try driving on the track with the stock tires. You'll reach the limits of their grip pretty easily, but they can surprisingly stand up to more than you'd probably expect.

I may actually try to do the MVP Track Time HPDE down at the Corvette Track next year. My girlfriend goes to WKU, although she graduates next week, and she wants me to go down there sometime so she can show me around. I think mixing in a couple track days sounds like a good way to introduce myself to Kentucky. lol
What this guy said. A lot of people are recommending FI and I personally think that's the wrong approach here. If you wanted a lot more power, you should have gotten a Mustang like someone earlier mentioned. The likelihood of complications from going FI vs NA are higher which is something that you should consider since it seems like this is your only means of transportation. If you are planning on tracking the car, then you should see how well you can drive instead of upgrading the car after 1,000 miles. Bolt on's for this car are not very expensive and retain a decent amount of their value (since there are a ton of frs/brz owners).

Headers are loud. Unless you keep everything stock...but even then they are loud. So make sure you know what your getting into. A lot of guys here chase after hp and sacrifice everyday driving comfort.

Headers just have a better performance per dollar, same with a good tune and E85

You're the first red 2016 twin I've seen on this thread. Not many people have a red 2016 FR-S, much less a 2016 BRZ.

I actually did have quite a few cars with more power, I am intrigued by this car and want to see its potential.

Nice!!!! I live about 15 minutes from WKU. I've driven the corvette track (in a different vehicle) and its a great facility!!! It's a tight track so I really think the FR-S will be a blast!!!!

This is such an "opinion based" question.

I've driven quite a few more km/miles... and my plan is to do the following;
I want safe, reliable power, but enough to have some proper fun and beat the odd GTi.

SC - Harrop or Edelbrock for me. (Obviously with a good quality tune).
EL Header (personal preference, but the SC will sort out the torque, and I prefer the EL sound over the UEL rumble).
Catback - I like the HKS light weight Spec-L + it's sound. Adding the SC weight I guess it helps to save some with the Header/Catback/Wheels.
Wheels.. not sure which ones just yet, but looking at 17's just with more width so I can a) save weight and b) have a some wider rubber for my SC upgrade.

I've already got some Valenti tail lights and a shark fin antenna.

Wish list for the rest...
A front splitter/side skirts for some cool looks.
Perhaps some coilovers. - though I will really be on the street most of the time, so not sure it's really worth the expense.

86 South Africa: to comfort mods you may consider also adding backup rear camera & armrest. These two are mods i were most happy about from non-performance mods, when i installed them alongside top 3rd brakelight, sidemirror autodeploy/close on start or lock, mudflaps ..

OK, one question off topic about appearance, while I am also going to get matte black wheels (I think it would look sharp on red), what does everyone think about black tips and does anyone even offer them? I guess I can have them powdercoated if necessary.
