Noob exhaust question

I'm redoing my exhaust this holiday season. My exhaust is currently completely stock.

I'm purchasing a gruppe-s UEL header and a J2 engineering Quad Tip catback.

So, my question is, can I use the stock piping in between the two and have no fitment issues or do I need to purchase new piping and if so, what parts do I need to purchase? Thanks and sorry for being a noob.

Yeah both those parts will match up fine with OEM stuff, but they may not fit proper as they are cheaper lower quality stuff (more so the J2 catback) Keep in mind you will get a CEL for the header unless you tune it.

You probably will see little to no benefit from doing a full cat-back. Go the axle-back route which should help eliminate raspiness that you would likely have going with an aftermarket cat-back.

I should've mentioned I'm buying an OFT as well to avoid the CEL problem. I like the design and sound of the j2 quad tip and surprisingly a lot of people have been satisfied with their quality. So what benefits exactly would there be to get an axel back instead of a catback

I'm confused about what the catback connects to. In pictures of it already installed looking at the lifted car from underneath, it looks like the only thing connecting the header to the muffler are two pipes, one curved and one straight. These pipes are also included in product pictures but I'm not sure whether or not they actually come with the catback or not. This may sound dumb but from the way it looks in some pictures, it looks like the catback just connects directly to the header. Somebody please correct me cause I know I'm wrong. Thank you in advance

Thank you for the clarification. So I'd still be using the OEM front and over pipe?

Yes. And I'd personally recommend removing the stock cat back first, replacing the header, and then putting your aftermarket cat back on.

A friend of mine has the J2 catback with the JDL UEL header I sold him. You are going to LOVE the sound it makes.

Because the catback is 2.75", will it even fit the OEM piping and gruppe-s header?

I was actually thinking about going with the JDL header instead of the gruppe-s. How's he liking the jdl+j2 combo? Did he go with an aftermarket front or over pipe as well? Thanks for the install tip btw.

Last I heard he still loves it.

If I remember right, he has the stock front and over pipes. Everything fit up the way it should.

What does everyone think of a JDL UEL header, J2 quad tip catback and depo racing front pipe and over pipe combo?

Here's a link to the depo racing front pipe and over pipe:

It's going to be raspy, loud, and smelly without cats.
