You should read a lot lot lot more about turbochargers before you consider one, if this is your question.
But to answer it straightforward, with an aftermarket exhaust system, you normally want to increase the diameter of the pipe (ex. - from 2.25" to 3"). This allows you to push more exhaust gases through the pipe, which gives more room for moar powah. But really, read up on the forced induction subsection on this forum. Learn more. You will not regret it in the end.

Noob question about exhaust
Can't tell if serious or trolling.
Axlebacks do nothing but change tone. If you're thinking or going turbo for the most power you want to remove as much restriction as possible so that would be a full turbo back catless exhaust. However, catless exhausts have their drawbacks (i.e. May be too loud for most, catless may be illegal for emission and smog tests, etc.) To answer your question you don't "need" to have a catback but it will help. To prevent yourself from buying multiple exhausts I suggest you take a long look at what goals you have for the car and go from there. It won't be cost effective for you to buy an axleback then realize that you're losing power and increasing your EGT by not having a larger diameter exhaust. Then you buy a catback but realize your 2.25" catback is also a bottleneck and costing you spool time and increasing lag before you finally get a 3" turbo back that had you gotten it all along you would've saved some money over buying interim exhausts If at all possible, you only want to buy components once and the first step to minimize the chance of you buying something a 2nd time because the 1st didn't work is to lay out your goals.

You can turbo your car on the stock exhaust and make good base tune power.
If you're chasing large power numbers, you'll see benefits in upgrading your catback but not until you open up the exhaust further up-stream. (Downpipe, overpipe, front pipe)
