That is a beastly card. I'd definitely need a new power supply for that.

I'm thinking I'll probably just get the 960 and some more ram for now. I can get it all today after work and game all weekend.

Then down the road just build a whole new system...

Wait a bit on cards, amd just got 14nm into production. So newer gen cards next year should be a good jump in performance.

And at least make the best of the current gen really cheap.
I could probably buy another car with what I have spent on video cards over the decades.
I was so excited when I was able to upgrade to an 8 meg card for only $400.

You cannot go wrong with a 960 if gaming @1080p (HD).

Its a cheap low power solution and definitely just a plug in to your existing system. This card combined with some more RAM and you'll be good to go.

I used to care. Then I worked at Sharky Extreme. Now IDGAF. I want it to cost as little as possible and let me play the games I want for as long as possible. Now I find that I almost never want to play real games. I bought Titanfall, which is crap. I bought Bad Company 2, which is crap. I bought Wasteland 2, which is crap. The last big game I enjoyed was New Vegas, and really I haven't loved a big game since Fallout 3. Sauerbraten was awesome for years, but the community shrank and the current version won't run on my Surface 2 Pro.

And now there's Fallout 4. Am I supposed to spend 400 upgrading my system to run it decently or 1000 to build a new system that will run it well? I don't think it's worth the effort or the money.

No, you are supposed to spend $300 on black friday and buy a PS4 or XB1 to play it.

For the haters out there, Fallout 4 is based on an old graphics engine and the point of the game is definitely not how it looks.

I'm playing on my XB1 and am perfectly happy with how it plays.

I bought it for XB1 because due to the massive amount of hours I'll be playing it I figured it would be more comfortable on my couch and 65' TV vs sitting at my computer in a chair looking at a 24' monitor.

And yes MODS will becoming to the XB1 version (this has been confirmed), maybe not as fast as PC but they will be coming. Remember Windows universal, everything is running on the same core OS now.

Sounds like you need a console! :P

You might as well upgrade your rig instead of shelling out 400 for a new console altogether. I mean, buying a console will be equally as worthless unless you want convenience.

Sure, you can buy a next-gen console come Black Friday, but you could buy PC parts instead. To be honest, the only console worth getting is a Wii U (yes I said that), but only because I was a big Nintendo fanboy back then.

Also, @tennisfreak, PCs can be played on the TV as well, though difficult depending on size and location of PC and having to unhook everything from the computer. It's worth mentioning that Steam released several devices that allow you to play PC games on your TV without having to do what I just mentioned.

I have a feeling I'll be buying an xbone Fallout 4 bundle on Black Friday, playing the game for a few weeks, then selling it all when I'm done. We have an original Wii that we played for a few months. It has sat and rotted since, despite the easy of getting any game.

Upgraded to Skylake with a 6700K. Thinking of selling my GTX 980 for a GTX 980 Ti but not sure my 500 watt psu can handle it with my OC and might as well wait for the next gen

I've got a I7-2600/3.40GHz system with a Radeon HD 7800 and it plays Fallout 4 just fine, on three screens (although I typically play on one because no one except flight sims seem to get camera angles right in games on 3 screens)

As far as playing PC on a TV, that's much easier these days. TVs are really just monitors anyway so HDMI works just fine and cables are no issue as you can pretty much get anything to anything these days.

You can also do it wirelessly although not the best for games but works great for movies, browsing, etc. I have a Surface Pro I and a Miracast received we use for Netflix/etc when traveling. Works great for that. Hook it up to the TV in the hotel/rental and watch away.
