Considering most of the occurrences are centralized to a series of dealers in particular areas (ie, primo/hammer & 3 from this dealership and 4 from that dealership, its hard to imagine the problem is as "wide spread" as its made out to be). Potentially 40 cars chronologically produced with a defective part unforeseen by the quality checks currently in-place?! Just saying its a possibility.
I understand the frustration the issue could bring, but then again, we all assumed that risk buying a first year model.
No discount to the people who have the issue, but this forum has shown there are numerous people who don't know the difference between the car warming up, and an actual problem. Therefore, the percentage potentially affected is likely low, so the masses have nothing to fear. To calm those worried even more, this isn't some mythical creature... It's a fucking engine, it will get straightened out.

Needless to say...it really does feel like it's a ticking time bomb from reading all these problems.
Well said. Stole the words right out of my keyboard. I also feel like I jinxed myself by just posting in or reading this thread, lol jk.

I rest assured knowing that hopefully, Subaru will stand by its warranty as it has for me with other models and address any issues until they are fixed for good. Most owners with the CEL issue aren't experiencing catastrophic engine failure, although there are a few.

I know Subaru in the past has even fixed cars out of warranty for free if the issue is a well known manufacturing fault. Hopefully this achieves this kind of status IF it is a case of some failing sooner, others later, but all will fail eventually.

We have a MT whiteout in the shop as we speak. If the solenoids don't fix the problems new vvti gears have to be ordered.

Hi there I work at a dealer and I just thought I would let you guys know that gunma is very aware of what's going on. The engine of a board members original car was replaced recently and the old engine was sent directly to the gunma factory to be fully inspected. Rest assured that both Toyota and Subaru are taking any and all problems with this vehicle very seriously. I was talking with one of the field inspectors and they are all as excited about this car as we are but unfortunately due to limited supply of parts some of the fixes might take some time.
