Fog Lights (OEM FR-S) Broken - Help!
EDIT: found the problem - it was the fuses. Apparently, the each fog light has their own fuse so they can go out individually. For anybody reading this in the future, I believe they are fuse 10/11 and it is the fuse box underneath the steering wheel. There is a diagram that on the fuse cover that should say "FR RH FOG" and "FR LH FOG", something like that. Each one takes a 10A fuse. I guess now the question is why did my fuses blow spontaneously with no changes to the car or electrical system in general? Quick google says that the circuit is probably shorting out somewhere. Where could I start to figure this out? Since car is still under warranty can I just bring it in and tell them there is probably a short somewhere and have it be covered?
About 2 weeks ago I noticed one of my fog lights were out. Confirmed ONLY ONE. Today, I decide to pop them out and change the bulbs. Then BOTH sides stopped working. Tried a bunch of different bulb/foglight combos, and confirmed both sides are now out when one side was only out 15 minutes earlier. What could've caused a short on both sides? What could've went wrong? I would say fuse but everything has been running fine for 8+ months and it's not like I overloaded it with some high powered bulbs or anything. And only one bulb went out followed by another. If it is a fuse, which one would it be for a OEM fog light kit? I figure something like this is covered by warranty since it was OEM, came with the car as I bought it, is this correct? Last edited by cdo221; 11-15-2015 at 08:08 PM. |

Update - Turns out it was the fuses. What could cause the fuses to blow? The LED bulbs I was using from Diode Dynamics developed residue / burnt stuff. Could that be causing the fuses to blow out?
